as you know im going through a claim with the motoring industry buraeu (mib), but because it is going through an independant solicitor instead of an insurance company solicitor, would i have to let other insurance companies know that i am claiming

 

my case is that it aint an insuranec claim, its an accident claim that is being fought with my own solicitor through the mib, against an unisured driver

 

so technically i aint making a car insurance claim, does that make sense

I would class this the same as taking someone to court if they caused damage to your property, only in this case it was your car. The insurance company do not need to be informed because as you say, your doing this not them. It might be proper to tell them afterwards tho' but they will then require enough proof that you were not to blame, and that you won the action.

actually mate it depends on what the company asks for.

ie.

Have you had any accidents losses or theft in the past 5 years reguardless of whether a claim was made.

If you are asked this and say no, they then find out you did, your screwed.

 

I think your best advising them for information only, some companies will rate it, and some won't.

Does your current company know that you have had an accident or not?

Also the MIB will probably record what has happened on the insurance database to be honest.

 

Might be an idea to ask them!
