just wondered what you guys thought of L.P.G.

my mate keeps bangin on about haveing it fitted to his Volvo S40, and he cant seem to praise it enough. hes even sugested i get it fitted to my zed (not a fookin chance)

if it was so good surely all manufacterers would be starting to fit it standard but as it is there only seems to be a couple and its an expensive optional extra.

what do ya reckon

40p per litre!! Sounds good to me!!

I've been in a Ford F150 5400cc V8 that runs on LPG and it was un-noticable!

Very good stuff! :)

wonder if it would be any good running a modded engine on it.

I've thought about it.

A year or two ago the government would have givena grant to pay for most of the cost of converting.

You loose 10% power or so. More worryingh is talk of it damaging valve seats (or something like that).

I think several Soarers and a TT MK IV Supra are running on it ok and on a toyota / lexus forum.

whos brave enough to get their zed converted?

I thought about it but I think you'd have to do 10,000 - 20,000 miles to get your money back (can't remember exact figure).

You are right Rich but just how long will it be so cheap? Remember Diesel. that was cheap until every fooker bought a diesel car and then bash......up it went this fookin govenment are sooooo greedy it hurts. But yes! its a good idea for every day use cars. Not for our cars though. Not even sure you would be able to fit the tank in the boot anyway?

i saw smething on the t.v. the other day and they removed the spare wheel and put in a circular tank in the space where the wheel goes, still wouldnt get a big tank in the zed though

I reckon if anyone was serious about fitting LPG to a ZED and they had a 2+2 then you could possibly remove the rear seats and utalize that space but I would rather have a decent install and take the bus if I was that bothered about fuel consumption. But LPG will be dear soon enough you watch. But they can do some clever things with fittment now a days Si.

Hmm.... if you're going down that route why not just remove the standard fuel tank entirely (72 litres remember) and then replace it with a 50 litre LPG tank and a 20 litre petrol tank for emergencies when you can't get any LPG? Not sure if this is realistic or not. You'd still have to put the nozzle for filling with LPG in the boot though I think. But I agree, I thought about it on my old car, however sooner or later they're going to put the prices up I'm sure.

True they'll put it up eventually, but the recent petrol price hikes have ignored LPG to a point and it's behind the curve (when my girlfriend had her car done it was about 80p/41p, and now it's more like 90p/43p- she made her money back after 9 months)

It's worth considering; I reckon it'll take about 2 yea rs to pay off on 5k miles a year, but you will lose passenger or boot space. I'll never have it done as it's a lot of money to invest in a car that could easily have one of a number of equally expensive things go wrong.

It would be interesting to see someone do it though! :)
