Some of you may know already and some of you dont.

Right basically i got the car (i got ripped off obviously) in about november, since then i have spent loads of money fixing the fooker.

Tonight i got a compression tesat which turned out pretty dam bad and points to the ring being fooked.

So now after already spending so much im left with 3 choices.

Do i get the engine rebuilt?

Get a replacement engine?

Break her?

Someone please help.

Im so sick of the dam car i could cry now

Does it use water ? Whats it breathing like ? Is there bubbles or oil in the water ? In the back of Jap tuner there is a company that does second hand engines direct from japan for £700 plus vat. comes with small guarantee. I think its three months ! Did you do the compression test whilst the engine was hot or cold ?

At the minute it seems to be using water yes, alot or i have a leak.

There is bubble in the water if i squeeze the pipe anyway.

Oil seems to be fine

And the engine was warm i do believe, well i think it was anyway

When she is running and cold take the cap off and see if there are any bubbles of air in the water system. You could rev it to about 1000 rpm for about two mins and keep an eye on the water perhaps you might have a head or gasket prob ? No gunk on the oil cap or white smoke out of the exhaust >?

top it up then check ! Is it breathing heavy when you take off the oil cap when she is running ?

everything seems fine, there's no pressure in that thing i was saying i can squeeze, and when i do squeeze it i then see the bubbles coming out.

MAC, the person that has been working on my car is very good with the zeds to be honest with you, he has been working with them for quite a while now, he was the mechanic at PPS so knows the zed very well and is kind of a specialist anyway.

I seriously doubt any of the specialist garages will tell me any difference to what he will or has, thats no disrespect to any of the traders there of course.

The thing is its a hell of a lot of petrol to find out the engine is goosed, probably close to a couple of tank fulls in my car,

I know Mark very well and yes he is a handy lad with the spanners but my point is has he told you what is wrong with it?

You need a compression test and a gas cylinder test at least before you do any thing drastic with it.

Listen to Uncle Timski Turbot! I was told that my engine was goosed aswell, by a lovely Nelson dealer and to be honest they were talking sh1te!!!

Then came along a nice guy called Peter Rosenburger from SE who said "NO mate your engine isn't knackered it just needs some head work!" so the lesson in life is go to someone who knows WTF they are talking about. Low compression does not mean that your engine is f\/cked! Trust me mate I've been there and got the T-shirt.

P.S. the Nissan dealer and the guy I dealt with was recommended to me by a SO called person in the know on this forum at the time! LMFAO Get my point?

i have had a compression test mate, figures were

9

8

9

8.75

9

7.5

That was dry, then when wet the 7.5 jumped up to 9 (i think) which pretty much says its the rings.

The gin does not sound that bad i would go with head work but what would I know ;) but I like sticking my ore in.

But remeber a little knowlage is a bad thing take the past owner of my Z he was gonna scrap it for £300 thinking it would cost over £5000 (who quotes these things £350 for a water pump? Actuall cost £45 from CES parts and 2 hrs on my knees fitting) to fix the mech probs, it's cost about £700 to actually fix the problem, best deal I ever made :)

Don't give up she will sing again, oh and if you are thinking of scrapping for £300 ;)

It seems to be in the jedi order you need to be spending alot on your zed and still be getting nowhere lol ive spent about 3.5k in the last three months and the b*sterd is still sitting in a garage unfortunatly I think both you and I bird are past the point of no return you just have to keep going bud dont get dishartened it will be owesom in the end;)

If it’s any conciliation, I got stitched up with mine (by a trader on here). Although it’s probably my fault for buying it. Have spent £1000's on it getting it right, but getting there now. You just got to keep single minded. Better to fix something you know, than start to get to know another car and its problems.

I must say though, everyone here has been a great help (including all the other traders) in getting me back on track. So heed their advice.

Thanks for that mate.

i will keep plodding on though.

i rang an ex trader, still a zed specialist and spoke to him about whats going on and he said by the sounds of everything i'd probably be doing right to get a second hand engine.

dont want to mention any names as i dont want to cause a riot so if you think you know who im talking about then . . . no comment please.

for a start,You don't like the colour. So if you do get the engine sorted, you still won't like the colour. ;) .

then you'll want to get a respray ...£££££££'s. and as already said you're tubs might die, suspension might collapse and all that. (sorry to be so negative!)

BUT, you obviously havn't been put off z's so thats a good thing. :nana2: Get shot of it, GET A BETTER Z!!! there are loads of good ones out there.

And best of luck to you fella, you have had some shite luck so far.

The suspension is ok (had new shocls and that on the back), i mainly dont like that colour because its always dirty :slap: , and yes i do clean her. A re-spray will come once the car is sorted.

Ill either be getter turbos on the new engine or getting some different ones.

It'll probably cost even more to get a good zed cos ill not get much off mine at the moment and known my luck ill probably get another one then have somemore problems
