Finally i have my car back and its now a manual :D

The clutch is very very hard to push in (compared to what im used to that is) but it is brand new so hopfully it'll not be as hard after a week or so.

The car's still not that fast :headvswal I still need to by-pass/fix the Det Sensor though.

Its got a short shifter on there which i didn't realise was coming :D but it does seem difficult to go in gear, is that normal

Anyway i have the ZED back woohoo

Oh and the work by martin (zen garage) seems to be spot on and i met him today and he seems like a real good bloke, Also thanks to mark at zen garage for all the help and another big thanks to Mike (KIRBZ) for providing all of the bits and again a top bloke in my opinion.

cool, short-shifter will be harder as you have less leverage, but you soon get used to it.

Getting the det-sensor fixed will make a big difference to performance as you're timing is being retarted as well as having less boost

So far it seems ok mate, The gears feel quite hard to get them in at the moment with it being a short shifter and also i think the stick itself is a little shorter than its supposed to be (not possitive though), maybe its just that im not used to it, im going to see Cadpaul tonight so he'll probably have a drive and tell me what he thinks,

Ive spoken to Martyn and he said the clutch is heavy partly because its new but mainly because a clutch servo (i think thats what he said) is not fitted as it makes the clutch very light.

Well im going to just by-pass it for now as i cant afford to get it fixed quite yet :(

I suppose ill get used to the gears after a few days.

a new clutch properly fitted will be at its softest when new, it will only get harder as it wears the plate and the lever point changes angle and looses mechanical advantage[/b

You had a non turbo clutch fitted then? if standard or mild upgrade this should be still easy to depress, in fact twin turbo and non turbo standard or mild upgrade should feel light! who wants a heavy clutch?

Difficult gear selection could be the pinch bolt at the bottom of the gearlever is too tight, or may be related to the heavy clutch not clearing well.

Take advise from others and speak to the fitter again.

I dont think it was an N/A Clutch thats been fitted.

He said if i fit something or other the clutch will be very light (im sure it was a clutch servo he said).

Is it ok if i give you a ring to talk about it?

email me your number if it is to Spike_lee_uk@yahoo.co.uk

He has his zed going without it, although i can still drive it ok im a little uneasy about it being so hard.

Some people like a heavy clutch so that they can fell what is happening some people don't, give martyn a ring and he will clarify anything you need to get it to the point you feel happiest with it?

What manual cars did you have before, the zed does feel a little heaiver than a lot of other cars?

With a short shifter it is slightly more difficult to select gears and don't worry Jeff we know about overtightening the bolt :)

Ive spoken to him mate, He's going to send me the bit i need after christmas :D

The last few cars i had were a Celica(import), mazda Zedos V6, a Vectra SRi 140, Honda Accord SE Exec, Been driving sisters VW Bora which the clutch is stupidly light :mac1:

Yeah Martyn was spot on and when i mentioned the clutch thing to him (i rang him) he was more than willing to do anything to help, is certainly a top bloke in my eyes and the work done (what i know of) is top notch so far but like you and Martyn said some people like the clutch hard, he'd said his was like that.
