I was in Parcel Force today waiting for the lady behind the desk to price and weigh some parcels, she had gone out the back with a parcel when I heard her screaming, I heard her saying somebody come quick so I was trying to lokk out the back but could not see her, then I heard her saying quick somebody kill it, kill it please, some body get me a brush. A bloke was shouting No dont kill it, then I heard her bashing something with a brush, she then came back to the counter and I asked if she had seen a spider? she said no it was a snake and she went out the back and brught the dead snake out, It was only about 5" long dark brown with little white markings going up its side. Didnt look like any snake I have seen before, then I heard a bloke out the back saying I cannot believe you did that, thats really fooked me off, I cannot stand people who kill inocent animals, to which she said we have foreign parcels out here and the snake could have been poisonous. What would of you have done if this happened to you???

Covered it up with a coat or blanket and put a box over it, or block it in with boxes. They must have some, then phone the RSPCA.

I cant stand people who kill amimals for no reason either. There is more chance of it attacking if you are trying to kill it.

I'd have killed it I'm afraid.

Yes, it's not nice killing innocent animals but I'm not a vegetarian so animals get killed on my behalf anyway.

Also, it was probably foreign, could have been dangerous and it's never good to let non-native species loose.

None native species would have died very quickly in this climate. Their first instinct would have been to find some place warm, not go attacking people/animals.

No but when they come over the border we house, feed, pay and give them cars :(

well it would not have worried me, but then saying it I can understand why some one would. Had a nice visit from the police and the enviromental health officer on Thursday to check my snakes, all because some cock orders a Gaboon and Puff Adder over the internet, gets them sent thru the post in two sandwich boxes marked clothes. held at Heathrow. only ever kept a boa , 23 living at home. did not even have a hook to handle them with. trust me both of these can hit you hard and all for the cost £60. made the front page of the local rag

I don't really know about snakes but I just meant it's a bad idea with animals in general.

Sadly very true!

some of the tropical would die in our winter, but all the temperate would survive. the heaters for my animals have hardly been on for the last three months and that does include several tropical species. but as you say most will avoid any contact with humans. I do know an individual (not me) that lost an eastern diamond back for 18 months before he found her again

a eastern diamond back fookin hell, not something you want having loose.
