Another reason I wouldn't buy one (well in the mainland) they are the steal mobile..

Thieves favourite :/ insurance is a killer

I looked at a lads notsoimpretsa the other day and to my amazment the engine is horizontality opposed. Its no wonder they suffer with number four overheat. I keep takin the pi## and calling it a Beetle engine.

LOL scoobys have had flat configuration engines for ages now. that crazy SVX (i think) was a 3.3 flat 6 with a turbo IIRC? looked a complete heap IMO...

But that's why they sound so different from all the other four-bangers.

Last weekend my mate picked up a P1. I jumped in for a ride and he duely opened it up...it was fairly nippy and I was impressed it reved past 8K...then on next start up plumes of blue smoke emerged.

Turns out it melted a piston which on further research is almost a 50:50 chance in any P1 due to MAF / detting problems. I couldn't belive that these 'road going rally weapons' are so fragile but it sounds really common. STi's I believe are better, but it has suprised me enough to be put off. Evo IV and onwards would be my preference all the way
