Just bought a 7" motorised Necvox DA-7169 off Ammar so I'm looking around for a single Din sized DVD player to hook up to it. Anyone got any suggestions as I don't know much about this sort of thing!

Also, apparently the screen can be used as a "system master control station" when used in conjunction with "DA-230II TV receiver or DA-230I Radio/TV receiver/amplifier system"...I guess this just means you can watch TV/listen to the Radio through it with these add-ons? I'm planning on getting an MP3 capable head unit so I guess I'd only need the TV receiver?

Cheers in advance! :D

Leigh.

this place is good http://www.cel-direct.com

Cheers for that mate. It's a good site, think Chunk pointed me their way when I was after some JL Audio gear a while back. Trouble is, I don't know what the differences are (if any) between for example the £79.99 Centurion model and the £149.99 Kenwood one. Is the quality better or would I be paying for the name alone? Same thing applies to the higher end models...The Pioneer SDV-P7 and the Alpine DVA 5205P are both £500+ but are they worth it? Christ, I'm such a Luddite! :D

It's a shame the in-site link to the DVD headunits isn't working :(

i have the Centurion dvd player from them but its not on there site anymore, multi region and was about £120, i put mine in the boot as the face doesn't come off and being silver was too much on show http://www.centurionsystems.co.uk/dvd.html

got this one in mine its the next model up though they stopped making the 1 above! cost me 100 quid its multi region, plays mp3, vcd, vcdr, cd basically more than the ones I have in my house got mine from http://www.bassjunkies.com/?cpage=product/browse_detail.php&area=shop&category_id=92&sub_category_id=1&manufacturer_id=446&product_id=30562&show_my_car=&return_link=%2Findex.php%3FP%3Dpbb%26A%3Dshop%26cid%3D92%26scid%3D1%26mid%3D446&source=brand

And the great thing is they're only 15mins down the road from me!:D Krsmayo made a good point about it being a bit of an obvious target for a tea-leaf though...think I'll be looking at mounting it in the glovebox (my Zed came with a water and temp gauge in there but they're not easy to see whilst driving so I've been meaning to relocate them anyway)

i put mine in the boot, abit of a pain to change disks, but hay, better than having some F*cker taking it. unless you get a face off one, was going to put on the glovebox, but they dont like the angle as they are made to play flat or slight angle

is a good piece of kit for the price, it has an aux port on the front so you can plug a ps2 or what ever in

I have 1 for sale, has built in FM modulator so will play through the speakers without wiring into your existing head unit. Fitted a few and work well.

£145.00 plus postage

Bob

i have a rear view cam on mine, small cam behind the rear panal

Krsmayo... does your camera reverse the image on the screen?

If so, do you have a link to where you got it from please mate?

Cheers

FRIDAY... and everyone considering a DVD player in car....

What about a laptop? OK they are a bit more bulky that the incar DVD, but you can (obviously) do so much more with them..

I was toying with the idea of an incar Laptop, with SAT NAV and MP3 player software, and a 7 inch touchscreen for my CRX, but bought the bits, and never got round to it. (sold them all off too)

do a google for MEDIACAR or CARPUTER to see the front end software the guys have developed. (Dont be too worried when they slag of the people who use laptops instead of building a PC in a biscuit tin though!! LOL)

You can add an FM sender too to send the audio to your car stereo, and why not chuck in a wireless LAN card too, so you can upload your MP3s etc from your home PC without taking the LT out of the car.....

If anyones interested I know someone who has some OK laptops for sale too, PM me if you need details.....

Just a thought, I'm not trying to step on anyones toes if you are trying to sell Friday your kit.....

Alright mate, thanks for that :) If you do a search back you'll see I planned to do a full in-car computer install earlier in the year. Sourced everything that I needed and was all set to go then things changed with the direction I'm taking my car. Now all my moneys going on importing a lovely 4.5l V8 engine which is why I'm going down the DVD player/headunit route afterall.:D

If people want an off the shelf system I found this while researching the subject:http://www.mp3playerstore.com/stuff_you_need/dvd/TX3.htm

Im currently half way thru the installation of an in-car computer (carputer).

Custom built Mini-Itx system with 12v regulated PSU, connected to a 7" in-dash VGA Touchscreen Monitor. Im also running Mediacar on it (customised with Zed logo).

Only half way thru installation currently. Loads of cables : Power, Earth, VGA, USB x3, RCA cables, Speaker cables....etc

See pics. Plan on Fabricating Screen into Centre consol double din space at a later stage.

FRIDAY - APOLOGIES MATE - MINI THREAD HIJACK......

Hi Legrath, (I think we should start a new thread on this maybe??)

I liked the mediacar software, thought it was put together pretty well.

I'm suprised you want to get rid of that indash touchscreen monitor, in favour of a full dash mount. - If you decided to sell it, I'd be interested in having it off you, or will you canibalise it and mount the touchscreen panel in the dash??).

Do you have any details on it please mate (even if you dont sell it, I'd consider a new one. I have only seen expensive indash touchscreens - alpine I think it was)

Cheers mate
