Have just received this from a friend, and thought it was worth posting on.

 

"Just a word of warning about bogus emails

 

I received an email yesterday from Paypal giving details of a transaction I had 'supposedly' made ( $278.99 for an item I had not ordered) and underneath it said:

"If you did not authorize this payment or if you need assistance with

your account, please contact PayPal customer service at: ....."

 

...It displayed a clickable link (which i did not click) This link then asks you to verify your username and password.

 

Please be aware of these bogus emails, I've also had them from e-bay asking me to click the link to verify my details or my account will be suspended.

 

If you do receive email from either of these companies they will NEVER ask you to give personal details. The best way to check is to open a new browser window and type in the URL.

my mate had one saying his security details had been breached

and a link to goto

he sent the email to ebay they say its a big scam and are trying to solve it

i get an email a week from someone claiming to be eBay's Safeharbour asking me to 'confirm' my details. Its easy to spot these as they spell it Safeharbor and the punctuation is atrocious. I reported it to eBay but nothing happened as yet.

I have had both ebay scan and paypal one as well!!

 

Must think i'm stupid :)

I had one from Lloyds TSB this week saying there site had changed an i should log in using this link!

 

I dont even bank with TSB !!!

same here ebay email saying fruad on account confirm details before proceeding, it looked just like an eaby screen as well! fookin horrifying.

I'm always getting emails from ebay & paypal asking me to confirm my details with them or they'll suspend my account. But everyone has been a hoax so far as the ebay toolbar alerts you if you're sending your details to a hoax firm.
