It's absolutely brill, I love every minute of it!

I've done about 6 hours flying but I'll be 'in circuit' as they call it, i.e. taking off & landing next. (if the weather gets any better that is!!) Can't wait.

Has anyone else on here done any or got their PPL or own a Microlight (flexwing or otherwise)?

I've attached some pics, the first one is of Formby, second is of an island off the Wirral & the third is of North Wales.

The hangerage costs and the insurance were the main reason that we sold our Rans and are buying into a syndicate. Its £2000 up front and £40 a month which isn`t bad as that covers maintenance, insurance and hangerage. The only extra to pay for is fuel.

That's very cheap, how big a share did he get for that?

I take it you`ve been told the old classic line-

`There are old pilots and bold pilots, but no old, bold pilots` :)

I'll bear that in mind ;)

I think there are 8 people in the syndicate, so its not too bad and there are always other people in the club who you go up with if the syndicate plane is being used.

let me know when you`ve done your first solo, although I`m sure every man and his dog will be told anyway. Thats what happened with me at least and I reckon it does with every one.

Good luck with the training. And it goes without saying but.... enjoy yourself!!

Enjoy, you'll be hooked after it ;)

It was excellent mate. Got up to 4200feet at 110mph - chuffin cold up there as well.

Turning the beast was a bit alien to me - push the bar right to go left and vicky versa - doesn't work like that in an aircraft or a helicopter??!!

110mph  what were you flying? that's bloody fast for a flexwing.

It does feel a bit odd to fly but you soon get the hang of it :)

It was a demonstrator of the latest model. Top speed 125mph, ceiling of 10,000ft and a range of 400 miles - it does cost £24,000 though!!!!!

Must have been good though, the wing I learn to fly with only goes up to about 80mph max.
