pete shrimp Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Got out of the house today and thought I'd strip the bits of the plenum I've bought to polish up. I presume the 2 valves in this picture are the EGR valve and the Idle Control Valve? I will remove/blank off the EGR when fitting the plenum, has anyone got any tips on this? Can I use the gasket I have as a template to make a blanking plate? Or is there a better way? I thought I'd take the EGR valve to bits, as you do ;) And discovered that it was stuck open - see pic. The tiny spring had broken - the bottom hook was snapped. It looks v weak for such a PITA of an item to replace  Typical Nissan. Stu (SMW1) - were there any symptoms of this when you had the plenum fitted? There is a waterline attached to a bracket which fits behind the EGR valve housing - will I still need this after the EGR is removed? There are 2 connector holders on it which I guess I can live without but what about the metal waterline - is this also bypassed when bypassing the TB ones? See pic: Cheers for any info and comments Pete Quote
John Dixon Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Pete, that's the idle control valve/FICD on the left and the second thing is the cold temp warm up valve, not the EGR. It's the thing that allows extra air into the engine until it's up to temp. I think that metal pipe is bypassed, but can't remember off the top of my head. Quote

SMW1 Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Hi Pete, I never actually fitted that plenum mate, so I don't know if there were any side effects. I bought it originally to polish like yourself but in the end I couldn't be fooked ;). You've got further than I did ;) Quote
