dunno mate, but live update caused no end of probs on my machine, it wouldnt shut down for starters, used so shut down halfway then just give up. so ive unistalled the norton stuff deleted any trace of live update, much happier pc now.

The server maybe down, the subscription maybe up, they have noticed if your copy is not a legit copy.

Yeah, Norton AV / Firewall can be a right pain in the backside. The update problem you're having may just be down to server load and could be back to normal if you try again in a bit.

 

Having said that, I've worked on many PCs where Live Update seemed to be doing what it was supposed to, then you take a look in the log files and there're a ton of errors - sometimes with it not having updated the definitions for ages even though no errors were reported by Live Update!

 

I always recommend that people manually update from the Symantec website - that way you know your definitions are updated! :)
