As some of you know I had my first shot at a drag strip on Sunday.

Queuing up to go on I felt fine, about 5 cars from the front I started to get a little nervous as I was next to an AC Cobra (which may I add sounded the nuts).

2 cars to go the adrenaline was building up.. I could feel it in my chest and my arms.

Now it's my turn, I entered the burnout strip and dumped the clutch at 5krpm and spun the tyres up to the start line.

My legs are now going through a "Shakin Stevens" session.

I'm at the line the white lights tell me I'm good to go.

3,500rpm clutch at biting point….

Handbrake on with button depressed for release…

Next thing I know is the green light is on and all my thoughts about gently easing the clutch went out of the window.

I dump the clutch and hit the gas pedal to the floor !!

1st gear to 7kprm….

2nd gear a little more….

Hearts now going like the clappers

3rd gear approaching red line… fook it only a little further…. Keep it in there….

Passed the line doing 117mph in 3rd gear (manual) !!!!!

Brake Brake Brake…

I'm breathing like a hamster on heat !!!

Fook me what a rush.

Joined the queue again straight away, opened the bonnet for extra ventilation and a few oil and water checks…

Repeat again…

And again…

And again…

And again… LMAO

Is this $hit addictive or what !!!!

Has anyone actually done the 1/4, won their race and not wanted to do it again ?

lol that Supra on Sunday was amazing, fair do's

did the rx 7 eventually get any good times - I had to leave at half 3 so I never saw the final "god of the pod" bit...

I left at about 4:45, by which time Norris had run the EVO once, but it looked so hard to put power down to begin with he was all over the place and 'only' did a low 11sec I think. wanted to stay but as I wasn't driving I had to leave when my lift wanted to.

Don't know if you saw the blue single tub supra, but that looked capable if he ever launched it right - it was still sideways in 3rd half way down on it's mid 11 sec run!

Not sure who won, will do a search in a min and find out.

That Evo is shite :D:D I nailed him off the line at TSC! :D

After 10m it was a different story... :(

Fancy that race then Stuart? Now that you're an addict

:D I know the feeling on a bike but never done it in a car...YET!!!

But I guess this makes it sound even more unrealistic now right

Adam, there were no intermediate speeds, at north weald they only had the above.

Mike, My car is silver you mo fo  I'll prove it I'll take it to a pain shop and get a print out of the colour code (even then some people may doubt it lol).

Pete, Yeah I'm well up for that mate, I may go along to the pnoc weekend at the pod you up for that ?

top figures mate

i believe you

you were there they wernt

keep up the good work

steve

I was talking to someone last night and apparently its very hard to get any decent grip at North Weald, esp in the left lane (or was that right, can't remember). So Stu, you are going to knock a bit off that at the Pod for sure.

Actually James saying that I only managed 14's on my two attempts in the left lane where the right lane I hit 13's on my other three sessions.

I thought it was just because I may have been at too higher revs to start as I got a fair bit of slip.

Anyway I don’t blame the track I blame the driver. I didn't think North Weald was that slippery but I have nothing to compare it with.

Obviously garry 300zx will be telling you all that the right lane was slippery as he lost to me tongue: even though he was running 106 octane cold blue race gas, bloody close race though.

Looking forward to the pod :D

I'm not arguing with your times mate, but like I said NO WAY on the top speed.

I believe you thats what it says on your slip, BUT, they do occasionally make mistakes you know...

Fair enough mate.....

I understand how you think like that !.

But how about this senario ?.

High end toruque with a slippy shite start ?

I'll be at Pod on Sunday if anyones going? :)

With 15.5psi I can well believe that terminal speed, with a poor start

If you got that with a slippy start, you are looking for another 4-10mph top speed with a good start arent you?

Speedfreak, where is it mate, i.e. north, midlands, south ?

Stuart, I'm not sure about that mate but that would be real nice :).
