I was speaking to friends last week about how the mirror publishing these pictures. IMO the best recruitment campain Al Queda have ever run. This poor yank fell is just the first of many more that will follow. Don't get me wrong I don't think these fudamentalist have become so because of the Mirror but, the mirror stories have gone all round the world enthusing Islamic extremeists to rally for the Jahad.

Look we don't allow publication of extreme literature or imagery of white religious or political groups. We have laws to put people in prison who do. Even if what they say is true, because of its power to insight bigoted attacks so why has this newspaper been allowed to print this stuff. Surely in the interest of public safety they should have gone to the government and said sort it or we print it. They have placed proffit before anything else and public safety is one of many issuse I feel need addressing.

History has shown us that irresponsible story telling has been enough to start world wars in which millions of inocent people die. How can bringing the disgusting behaveour of some American and British troop into the world wide media do anything but inflame a volatile situation. Its public airing has only made the quality of the normal Iraqi people worse and our lives more dangerous while giving violent nutters more amo to kill and maim. What was the editor thinking. I think its Treasonous and the b@stard should be hung a traitors gate when the first Britten is killed in reprisal attacks.

shows you how the news gets distorted

the girl was "reportedly shot in an accident" in THE ABDOMEN,

for the girls family dead is dead, but its a case of someone suddenly pouring fuel on the fire, this happened in August, and now an iraq "witness" has said he saw something different

think i'll just go and make a statement to say harold shipman was a good doctor

and yes your right the papers do have an obligation (not a right) to report the news as long as it accurate and in the public interest

IMO - we (USA/UK etc.) need to kick ass big time, then get out OR just get out now and say we did our best.

As it is, they will never win and will lose lots more poor soldiers lives. Can of worms/hornets nest all apply. UK/USA governments panicking, Iraq in chaos. No obvious solution - stay or go we lose !

Send in Arnie (Dutch) with Jess Ventura and that gattling gun !

The answer to the question "Should the mirror br held accountable for US Death" is no.

I cannot comment about the mirror but I can comment about the war.

Why US went there in the first place? Bush told that Sadam owns mass distruction chemicals and whatever other crap. So far they didnt find any. But they are still there.

Also UK went there for the same reason. Right? Well, my opinion is that whatever US decides to do, UK follows also. If US decides now to pull out UK will do that also. It seems that UK goverment or Blair is acting like a trained dog that is doing whatever is boss is telling it to do.

They went there and they destroy the entire country and they arrest Sadam. So whats next. Find the terrorist? I wonder who they are now...I am watching the news every day and so far I dont understand whats the point of this war.

What is the problem with these photo's? We are at war arnt we? Its not nice but then I dont remember war being nice?

Just dont get it??

I think the papers have an obligation first and for most to protect and uphold the values of the society that nurtures it existance. All actions have consequences and it appeares to me that our press only considers the consequences its actions will have on its own bank accounts and share holder dividends. I cannot see any bennefits of public interests the stories of soilders brutality has served. FFS war is brutal thats the point. If we said we are going to send our boys over to Iraq with tickling sticks to tickle you to behave, do think they would. War is about saying you tow the line or we'll kill and maim you. IT's the substance of peace. Without it people just do as they like and as we constantly see around the world. Some people don't think their anything wrong with killing and taking what they want. Peace is only won by brutality.

The papers have to act responsibily and not pour pertol on to a smouldering fire. When they do they should prish in the flames.

Officially we aren't at war. We are occupying the territory.

It is all a load of *****x as far as I am concerned, these things happen FACT.

I used to be in the military and some of the shit I have seen you wouldn't believe.

What they want you to believe.......to establish a democratic non-oppressive Iraqi government and eliminate WMD from the previous regime.

In reality(my belief).....to stabilise the region for future oil supplies and the safety of the USA by giving a message to terrorists that the USA will not tolerate it and will kick ass. Also to finish a job which wasn't finished properly in the 1st Gulf War.

Couldnt agree more, and if people cant handle that fact then it just shows jo publics naivety.

very few who have been in real close combat situations wud ever want a war to be waged again - if those who start wars (leaders) had to fight, there wud b bugger all wars. Most veterans are scarred mentality.

Most/all wars are based on false assumptions - that one group of ppl is superior to another. One side is good, ALL the others are bad. Nature doesn't work like this.

It's a really stupid way to sort things out - sometimes violence/force is unaviodable, but Governments often see War as inevitable and easy, when it's far from it ! The human and financial cost are huge.

This case is slightly different becasue we are supposed to be freeing ppl from an oppressive regime (a legitimate and honourable goal -even tho' it's about more than that-see above). But now it's turned into guerilla fighting with civilians getting caught in the crossfire.

I can't understand why they thought this wud b easy/possible. Westerners are not exactly loved in the Middle East, so they were in a bad position to start with.

USA are hypocrites to some degree and cannot look at themselves critically, thinking they are always right. I wud rather live in USA than Iraq tho'

yep ... You're absolutely right Roy. Jo public are naive and shocked about these kind of things because they don't understand what really goes on.

some people need to take a reality pill.

yeah -if some guy was trying to kill you in a nasty way, wud u want to be nice to him after you'd captured him - it's asking more than our nature can usually allow.

PPl expect 2 much.

UK papers put money before facts and safety everytime. as long as its going to sell they will run it. If you want to hit em all where it hurts. dont buy their papers for a couple of weeks.

As to British and American Soldiers torturing Iraquis, unfortunatly thoes pics maybe or maybe not be fakes, the thing is its has happened and soldiers are being named.

And that I am afraid will be their own undoing. Thank fook I am no longer in the army. Id like to get hold of blair and batter him around t5he head with WMD. His own bloody stupidity

Soldiers are primarily killers. The military go to great expense and lengths via training to turn civillians into soldiers.

As a result of this they get a potential killing machine. Not all soldiers are the same however on the whole that is what they are.

I can say honestly that if someone killed one of my mates and we captured the ****er he wouldn't be getting tea and a slice of cake.
