I saw the re-made version of the George Romero classic Dawn of the Dead at the weekend, now I'm a big fan of the original so I was thinking it was going to be a poor rip-off, god was I wrong! The idea behind the films was the same but they were quite different, I was particularly impressed that they didn't flinch from showing all the nasty bits :D I think the BBFC should pack up and go home, after letting them show the scene on the bus, I don't think there is anything which is more brutal that is taboo anymore, at least I can't think of anything!

If your into your horror I can well recommend it.

Did anyone else spot the cameo's by the original cast BTW?

Saw shaun of the dead yesterday

that was funny!

will probably see dawn of the dead later this week

Yeah, I'm gonna go see Shawn on the Dead too, I think Simon Peg is well funny, Spaced was a classic :D

if you liked spaced, you'll love shaun of the dead

its just like a 2 hour episode

with zombies

and (nearly) everyone dies

Off out in a minute to see DOTD with Lucie...can't wait! Only just managed to persuade her to see it with me as she don't do horror movies as a rule...we'll be sleeping with the light on tonight then! ;) :D

Herman,

Sure did! Saw Scott H Reginer (as Army Dude), Ken Foree (as TV Preacher), and also Tom Savini in a not so subtle appearance!

Did you see the name of the large, ladies Boutique in the mall? I think it as called Gaylen Ross!!! No David Emge though....is he still alive???

I thought it was messy and quite a disaapointment on the whole.

Phil.

"I'm a fraud. A poor, lazy, sexy fraud."

LOL, I missed the 'Gaylen Ross' I was looking out for her as one of the Zombie's, well spotted.

Well that was a bloomin disappointment! :(

I'm a fan of the original movies myself (in fact the DVD box set "Trilogy of the Dead" is sat next to the PC as I write this) and thought this remake really could've been so much better. I'm not saying this in a faux machismo kinda way, but it just wasn't that scary. They failed to make the most of a premise that could be, in the right hands, sh1t your pants frightening! An example being the "birth" (won't describe it so's not to spoil it for those yet to see it). That had the potential to be VERY unnerving, yet it left me thinking "Oh. So that's it is it?". Put it this way, Lucie didn't flinch at all during it and was fine afterwards!

original dotd great

surely its everybodies fantasy dayout

looting a mall and shooting people in the head without getting done for murder

saw shaun of the dead on saturday, best film of the last 12 months, can't see the point of seeing the remake now, sotd had everything in spade fulls

may spend slightly less time on ps2 now as well
