Just had a look at Kazza and it is $30 to join without ads!!

 

Downloaded the free one with adverts and it is too irritating, anyone know any alternatives?

the run Spybot-search and destroy

this removes all the adverts

a bit more techie, but the best there is

 

install mirc from http://www.mirc.com, go to packetnews, search for whatever you are looking for, click it, it will open up mirc, open the server, join a channel, then paste (ctrl+v) in the channel chat line & hit enter

 

its a bit tricky but worth it when you get it sussed... I get downloads of 233k a sec on my 2Mb line (got full DVD rips in less than 1 hour!) :D

There are about 3 or 4 which connect to the same server. Kazaa and Morphious are the same thing really.

I managed to get a catastrophic virus problem from a KAZAA download. When I rebuilt my pc with a firewall and virus detection I couldn't reconnect to KAZAA at all as it wanted me to disable all the blocking software before it would work.

 

Too risky for me! - I use the computer for work too!

My virus checker and firewall works OK with it.

Which ones are you using then STU, cos Kazaa asked me to disable the firewall before it would install!

You can remove the ads support programe (gator) from the list of programs on your p.c. Still get a couple now and again but not that often.

zone alarm works fine for me with kazaa

I use Zone Alarm by Zone Labs.

 

Every time a new peice of software attempts to access the internet, it asks for your permission. You can let it access just the once and when you reboot and it accesses again it will ask you again. Or you can tell it to always let that program access.

 

Its a good way to find trojans as the fire wall will pop up asking if some strange program can access.

I have tried most of them and I must say DC++ is the best by far. Bearing in mind though you do need to have a few Gigabytes to share out (150Gb+ on some hubs). But that is why it seems to work so well, becuase everyone has to share some data.

I can only advise ppl to avoid, kazaa with ads, morpheus, grokster, bearshare like the plague as they also install spyware, which logs all sorts of personal info and sends them off for 'marketing' purposes.

 

Kazaa lite should do the trick for most ppl
