...and why do they only run .6 bar boost?

 

what's the point of that!??

I am only running 0.6Bar of boost because thats all I had time to set my boost controller too before the rolling road, I was playing safe! It will be running at least 1Bar for the event with supporting mods.

 

Sadly GTO's are prone to knock with too much boost unless it has more cooling hence the 0.6Bar. I will have more cooling! plus lots more bits...

 

We have some big BHP cars in our club and i'm sure it will be a good day!

we arranged one a few months ago and no GTOs turned up though.

I turned up! It was the 1st RWYB this year. There was only three Z's there and one of those was the Yellow COOL BLUE demo car. (Nice car though!)

 

I only saw one Z run and it didnt look too impressive...

 

Anyway thats why I orgainsing this event so it WILL happen.

Its about time we found out what the quicker car is!

As said on the other thread, if my leg is OK by then and my Z is sorted i'll be there.

 

Be warned GTO owners i'm new to 1/4 mile runs in my Z, so i'm bound to kick your ass :D :rofl:

I see the GTO owners are voting for a trackday type challenge - surely that shows who are the best drivers are :confused: Drag/top speed will separate fast cars from slow 4WD ;) cars.

Lets have a top speed run at Elvington,then the 4wd will have no advantage at all:D;)

MAC have you been told how long it will take to run in the engine after the rebuild? Dont want you doing a Warren and go racing straight after a rebuild, I am sure most of us can remember the result ;)

Currently my car is it 1250 and every time I go out in it, it sounds better and feels like it has an eztra 10 bhp!

 

BTW millers have a special running in oil, might be worth getting it in!

You will have to keep me up to date on how its going mate. Im interested in knowing what you are doing and how confident you feel in your engine.

 

I would be scared to rise the revs too high :S

It is great every time I get in the car because it responds better each drive I do!

 

The exhaust note sounds better as well, from this experience I think it could be a common mistake for people who have rebuilt their zeds to not let the run in take a bit of time!

So is there gonna be something for N/A owners out there wanting to kick some N/A GTO's???? Or is it all about the fastest..?

Yes, I plan to do it in group just to make more sporting. It would be pointless a N/A 300ZX going up aginst a 800bhp GTO!

 

I'm thinking of N/A vs N/A, Totaly standard turbos vs the same, and turbos with boost controllers vs the same.

 

How many of you guys have NOS or Propane? If you have a few then we could do a class for them too.

 

But at the end of the day, the quickest 1/4mile & highest top speed will prove the best of the best.

 

Log on to the GTO site to let us know who is running, also please vote for your prefered venue, we will go with the majority...
