Anyone removed them?

I hear that Jap Imports of which mine is have or could have a restrictor in the exhaust.

Also I would like to de cat it as its a 1990 and my understanding is that they don't need um for MOTY before 1992??

 

Also any info or links on De catting the main Cats most helpful.

 

Its got a cat back system on it but even though louder than standard not by much and I obviously want more V6 growl!!

if you want more V6 growl then the only way to go is to get a single exit system.

really? I have a single exit exhaust and its not that loud. I presume its only cat back though and the cats are still intact as far as i know.

My brother found these restrictors & removed them, I don't think they made a whole lot of difference though, might have added a bit of extra power but didn't notice much in the way of extra exhaust noise.

don't bother with anything else but straight through 3" pipes no cats no baffles to speak of(100mm by 300mm) mine set of car alarms , nice to see the road flashing behind you. as loud as f**k alot louder than any tvr

I have the same, decat and straight through 3" all the way and no boxes at all, even the rears are just straight through pipe, but I get a rackity sound about half way up the rev range, do you get the same !!!

 

I am thinking of adding a back box either side to change the sound, it sounds lovely at tickover and full chat but through the midrange it sounds a bit awful.

no dont have that problem but mine have small baffles that might reduce it ,does backfire at gear changes in the midrange sometimes? have been told that dump valves and a free flowing exhaust are the cause,but what the f**k sounds nice
