7.4L Chevy Big block. Crude old american crap but sounds amazing and goes like feck :D

Id agree. We have a Magnum 454 cubic inch 7.4L Chevvy big block in our formula.

The sound is just PUURRRRRRR. You know what BHP thats pushing out John?

Also whats the top RPM your getting when gunning it as we jsut seem to cavitate at anything above 4500, still doing about 55mph at the time:D

Got to agree with that, first time i drove an auto, I went to stop and slammed my foot down on the clutch like you do, only no clutch there, just a fooking great brake, ended up kissing the windsceen as im too stupid to wear my belt!!!:D

With that combination of manifold, heads and carb it's supposed to be ~440 I think.

When we threw it in, we didn't really bother with accurate instruments and things like that (other than oil pressure)! I'd say the revs are in the 3500 range, not too much above that certainly, the limiting factor just seems to be the torque needed to spin the jet drive. Haven't heard any cavitation though.

Did get a speedo reading but gunning it alongside a scarab, about 70mph tops but feels like about 200

Not too sure if we'd get it onto scrapheap challenge - don't know if my workmanship's up to that sort of level :D :D

440:( were only getting 375.

Anyway, do you ever take it to Windermere? Might be worth a race next season?:D

440 is according to the haynes manual for that particular engine - could be miles off.

It's never been to windemere, but never say never if you want to organise it let me know (next year sometime) :D

Yeah, summer will be around the best time as the lakes has its own crapppy weather system:rolleyes: . We keep ours on the lake during the season, so if we organised something about 1 month ahead of the plan?

  • 2 weeks later...

just browsing the site over lunch and discovered this funny thread and thought better add my two peneth.

quite few years back, while standing and admiring my shiny new motor with a few friends I thought they would appreciate a demo of the alarm( heaven knows why 1 ), So I pressed the button ( while the keys were in the ignition ) and shut the car door. Needless to say they appreciated the humor of my immense stupidity. However that soon wore off when they had to drive me the 10 miles and back to my house to obtain the spare set of keys !

Not content with that effort a repeated a similar feat with a new TVR chimeara a couple of years ago. I had locked my keys in the sealed boot unit (no access to it form inside the cockpit ) not a problem as i had the spares, unlocked the car lent into the boot to retrieve the keys and while there noticed my CD changer was loose, so i fixed it and content with my repair shut the boot. This time with both sets of keys in it !!!!!!!!! not that really is alarming.

A call to the local dealer revealed how easy it is to break into a TVR boot with a single small screw driver. It took me less than a minute to achieve it. Thank god for pants british build quality.
