To be honest Paul I have to agree with you , I Think you can only get the true effect of a film from a cinema , will no doubt end up going the the cinema anyway

disagree, a good home cinema will blow away a real cinema. Most cinemas have worn film reels, idiot projectionists who sometimes cant even manage to project the film in the correct aspect ratio, uncomfortable seats, poorly set up sound systems, bla bla bla and thats before ive mentioned the screaming and generally offensively loud members of the public.

Where the feck do you watch films?

Film quality is miles better than and DVD. When I watch a DVD I can see the compression where colours dont blend but jump on steps.

Stuart

you must have a poor DVD player then, DVD is easily as good is not better than film quality but then a home cinema only really uses up to a 8' screen.

I agree with clarkey, my home cinema sounds better than any one i have ever been in and the picture is alot sharper. DVD is more higher quality than any tape based system that the cinema's use.

Oh and mines a 9 foot sceen ;)

Big is beautiful :D

How can a DVD which is limited in resolution and number of colours and on top of that is also compressed, be better than projected film with infinate colours and infinatly better resolution because it doesnt have one. Even with digital film it is 1000's times more sensative than the 720x576 resolution of a TV.

line double the picture to 1080i before projection for a nicer smooth picture, the fiulms most certainly are NOT infinate colour or resolution. The picture is worse quality because of the amount of use it has had, rolling thourhg a super bright bulb for hours on end really fades the colour and the resulting print is really poor quality. Also you notice at the flicks the picture often shakes and you get glitches from dust etc on the print.

As for the resolution, it really isnt that bigger deal, try watching a good home cinema setup and i think you will agree. No doubt a brand new cine print will look better than a DVD on the same size screen but DVD will look the same every time where a film will degrade in quality every playback.

But I have never seen a film projected onto a 28 inch screen. Because there is no point.

If you are watching films where you do see if flickering I dont think much of the cinema you go to.

I have what I would call a good home cinema set up. I have a good wide screen TV and the dolby sound. What you are probably thinking of is a projection unit or even a plasma screen, which will cost you £3000 for a basic model and there are problems with plasma screens, the colours are fuzzy. We have 3 at work and the colour quality bad. Like EVERY plasma screen I have seen.

im talking about a projector based system, you can get a decent PJ for 1200 quid tbh.

Enough TV/DVD vs Cinema debates - WHAT WAS THE F**KING FILM LIKE????

The film?

Some good action sequences in the middle. All this philosophy mumbo jumbo which was in the first 2 has completely gone. Probably the most disapointing ending I have ever seen. I thought they where going to round it all off, but no! They kept it completely open for more films.

my local cinema is pretty good as they go, its a cineworld, the showcase is crap, the screen is so large it degrades the quality and the sound system sounds not only tinny but the sound seems separated. The local UCI is a joke though run by muppets, really is a dump.

Hmmm...funny...personally I thought the "philosophy mumbo jumbo" of the two previous films was one of the things that allowed them to transcend the "action movie" genre stereotype, perhaps THE one thing (over and above the "bullet-time" special effects) that has allowed this trilogy of films to so quickly and firmly embed itself in the socio-cultural consciousness.

Anyway...;) ...I kinda enjoyed Revolutions but...you know that feeling you get when you leave the cinema after a great film and you`re buzzin? As if you haven`t quite left the world of the story behind? Didn`t get that high from this one.

But its still definately worth a look.

Leigh.

Mind you, I gotta say that for the first quarter I was a little distracted. The girl behind me kept kicking my chair. When I turned around and asked her to stop she said "Oh, I`m really sorry!"...silly mare didn't even realised she was doing it, and thankfully stopped. Jesus...I worry about people sometimes...
