Has anyone actually got any proactive ideas that would be good for the club?

Instead of all the bitching why can't we get some good ideas together. It is all to easy to moan about things but it is a damn sight harder to think of good ideas that could benefit the club as a whole.

This shouldn't be a discussion of ideas because that would lead nowhere at this time. It will just create more bickering.

Just post your ideas.

LOL .. Yea that is the truth Mike.

It would be good to get some proactive ideas together maybe then they could be put forward to the commitee and discussed in a formal meeting.

The more ideas we have the better.

This has been mentioned before . . I think by Tim

Setup of some sort of online payment method using either PayPal, Clickbank whatever ...

If people don't want to use it then send a cheque instead.

This could be used for the subscription requests as well. It is so easy even a chimp could do it (given the proper training).

No more nightmares regarding payment and collection.

Ok, here's a few:

1) LESS forums - its now almost impossible to keep up with anything.

2) More tolerant mods - yes there's some stuff which occasionally gets offensive but doesn't that happen in every day life also?

3) REGULAR updates to members about WHATS happening WRT the site and how funds are being handled etc

4) This place DESPERATELY needs some FAQ tech resources IMO

Agree with all of that :)

Nice 1 Andy ... Good ideas.

I think the site needs more tech stuff and info. That would draw end users to the site and create a lot of more members.

I also think the site should be revamped and turned into a proper website with the Forum as part of that site. This would offer members the opportunity for maybe an online magazine ... This could be easily set up in a private area. It would save the club money as well because it is a damn sight cheaper to publish online magazines than send them out in the post.

The site could become a fantastic resource for Zeds and if done correctly it could become very big indeed.

Seeing as everyone is nodding and saying "what a good idea" how about we actually do something about it!

I know **** all about computers and not a great deal more about mechanics (other thann they're all scruff f**kers:eek: ;) ), but if there's anything I can do to help, tell me what to do and I'll do it.....

Need any Web skills, Flash, HTML, Java?.. :D

Website chatroom.

Loads of freeware chat programs available. I use one at work as I am sure lots of others do.

That would create a community centred around the site as a whole.

........fooking show off.............;) :D

This is all good stuff ... I am a designer have been for a long time and have already offered my services for free if required.

The more the better ...

I think the place needs a face lift.

Hopefully this will also lift the atmosphere as well :D.

And maybe we can have a switchable GUI option on the first page so we can use graphical or plain mode so we can browse the forum at work without hovering our fingers over the alt tab keys, you know you all do it :D.

LMAO Stuart :D

You know we do!

It does need a facelift ... It could be made into a really good Zed community and if the Mods listen to what the members are saying then it could happen.

There are a lot of people on here with tech skills, design etc ... All willing to help the site because at the end of the day the site is for the members and their opinions and suggestions should be seriously considered especially when these changes could come about without any serious expenditure from the club funds.

how about listening to us????

unfortuanatly, being proactive relies on the mods putting our ideas into action rather than ignoring us.

but all of the above for me too :)

Paul ... Hopefully if enough people comment with ideas they will listen.

That is the idea of this post. Lets get good ideas then get them discussed by the committee and hopefully acted on.

I'm a member of other Nissan forums and they have some good and bad ways of running things, my personal thoughts based on a mixture of these would be.

1 Duffers comments are correct

2 Anyone can look at the various sections on the forum, but only paid members can post a thread on them all bar one, the "main Zed related chat area" this can open to Guests to post as well.

3 Fees should be 20 quid first time round complete with sticker pack to help promote the club and for use on show days, then a tenner for renewals.

4 One area is dedicated to club funds showing what's spent where and when etc, so all members can see it, updated every month by the treasurer.

5 One moderator/organiser is responsible for arranging the meetings and club stands and tickets for the 4 main jap shows each year, doing this early enough saves grief over money and getting our stand area intime, plus probably more attendees.

Just my thoughts

smithy

Right, lets not turn this into another moaning thread. We started off with a good attitude and some good ideas, so lets keep them coming and then we can present these ideas to the board and sit down and discuss them.

I was taking to a few people last night members, mods and admin and I mentioned that there is too much of them and us when it comes to mods and members I think the main proactive thing we need to do is get rid of that Gap. If we can do this then we wouldn't have to shout and moan all the time.

Can you imagine the houses or parliment moaning and shouting at each other, nothing will ever get sorted.

Lets get a list of things we would like to see and present them accordingly.

If we can do this then I'm sure that we will see some of our idea's and suggestions implemented.

Stu .. That is exactly what we want. I would suggest that you take up the job of acting on the members behalf and maybe you could be the liason between the members and the Mods etc ...

U up 4 that?

Hi Guys,

That position funnily enough was put forward by myself on the mods forum last night, I have volunteered for the role! But if someone else wants to help!

Hi Smithy,

I have also volunteered to organise Trax and Billing for 2004, I presume you mean organise the main meetings! What are the other two Jap shows you are talking about?

  • Author

Didn't realise ... I don't really care who does it as long as someone does and it happens.

I would also suggest that all the ideas that have come up be written down and presented to the committee formally at the next meeting.

They can then decide on how to proceed and present a post back to the members on the results of the discussions a bit like a minutes meeting report.

That way at least we would know that the comments are being discussed and the reasons why they have or haven't been acted upon.
