I was driving home tonight and reached Brittania Bridge to go into Anglesey but the traffic came to a halt 400 yds before it goes into 1 lane. A few seconds later I heard the sound of locked up wheels and looked in my rear view mirror only to see a fookin Fiesta flying towards me. I immediately floored it but heard the inevitable bang before I got up to speed. The guy had only passed his test 2 days ago. Anyway the Fiesta is a write off and the Z will need the rear quarter panel, nearside cluster and bumper replacing at least.

Has anyone else had this amount of damage and did the insurance company write it off??

FFS. The ****er.

Bleed him dry. You neck is getting a little stiff. Get an appointment to the doctor.

Stuart

 :(

Sorry to hear the bad news

If his car looks a write off, how fast was he going?

Stuart

Oh FFS!:( Not another rear quarter sorry to hear that Sean.

Jeez, sorry to hear that.

Do you feel a bit of a 'Kit' comming on? :D

Mike

Sorry to hear that Shaun. :(

Dozy fecking scrote!!

i had mine repaired with rear 1/4 damage, it will depend on value of the car obviously, & different ins co's have different write off %, so it will depend on them ultimatly.

good luck - i know how it feels :(

know how you feel mate, im in the same situation, mine was due for a full respray anyway so i didnt bother with insurance as it will only add a couple of hours to the job, didnt think it was worth losing any no claims over a couple of hundred quid for parts and labour.

Ah sh1t. Sorry to hear this bud. What a :xxx:

Hope it works out as painless as poss for you.

I am thinking of buying a new rear bumper for mine, so if you do need a standard one then give me a shout.

To put the record straight, that post was put up by my brother!:(

So my car, i.e. ShaunMac's car is actually OK!

Although I do have sympathy for him, I'm not happy about the fact that he's used my username to post this thread, especially as it was signed with my name and given the fact that I'm trying to sell my car!!!

I must confess that I have let him use my username and password a couple of times in the past to help him out with the car, but now I've suggested that he creates his own username and password to save any confusion and so as not to upset paying members.

Shaun

OMG not another bloody one.

and yes they have wrtten it off (sob).

Got loads of parts listing if you want - bung me yr address and I 'll post them

The insurers have a huge computery thing which estimaters have to work to with standard times for standard jobs. Plus there are standard "kits" from parts suppliers. EG "Rear Accident Damage" which will have every last nut bolt washer, crumple thingy, reflector etc etc whether or not you actually need it.

So there's a big price - much bigger than a real repairer - which tends to mean write offs of cars which are perfectly repairable.

HTH - much sympathies - Gio

*****x, sorry to hear that they wrote your car off Gio, that's a hell of a shame.

I don't think they'll write my brothers car off cos it doesn't look that bad really, although you never know.

Gio,

Yours doesn't look too bad, can't you get a "sensible bodyshop" to fix it for you privately using s/hand parts sourced from chaps on here etc??? must be cost effective to do that and shame to brea what looks to be a very good zed otherwise.

Paul

thanks guys - didn't mean to hijack shaunmac's brother's uncle's dog's thread (or whoever it is ;) )

I'll do a proper post somewhere else when I've got time but yes the plan is to buy back the salvage and get a non-thieving-*******-insurance-rates bodyshop to repair. The insured value was £5,000 and they write off if repairs are 60% of the value - in my case £3,000.

Thanks to recommendations here and elsewhere, I now have the choice of Slough, Tamworth, Nottingham or Lincolnshire for bodyshops.... errr decisions decisions

Unless life kicks me in the nads yet again this month, should be back by November.

More later - sorry shaunmac, have yer post back before I moderate myself for hijacking! :D - Gio

Thanks for all your sympathetic replies. I've now made friends with Bro again and got my own login!

The damage is similar to Gio's but only on the back end. Gio, do you happen to know if just quarter panels are available or do you have to buy the whole rear end!

Cheers

Davemac.

Rear quarter available separately. Fiche reference 78110 (RH) 78111 (LH). P/n appears to be 78112-32P60 Nissan price £396 + VAT.

If yours is the RH one, maube we can organise a group buy with MJP! :)
