If all goes to plan I hope to be the proud owner of a replacement low mileage Zed within the next couple of weeks. My current plan is to keep the old heap as a replacement for the inivitable days rest and attention the new one will have. Since she's a 1990 UK car I think that I can get cheap(????) classic car insurance for her. If so, who should I contact?

Featured Replies

Norton Heritage policy - do a search for the phone no.

Thanks

Norton quoted £250 so I'more than happy with that. Fingers crossed that the replacement Zed goes ahead OK.

Blimey - that's cheap... What sort of details? (About you, I mean.. :) Age etc..) And do they use your NCB, or is it the kind of policy that doesn't use NCB?

Just wondering :)

Good god!

If you dont mind, could you post a few more details of that policy? Thats exactly £1000 less than my premium :(

I'm 45, clean license (until I receive mail over the next few weeks) and one minor accident last year (Dented a Fiesta door coming out of my drive)

You must have another car insured that uses your NCB

Parked on drive

Limited to 3000 miles per year (5000 available as an option). Should be fine for the days when the main Zed is out of action and a damn sight cheaper than insuring a normal run around as the spare car.

OMG!

Just a nats nadger over £500, inc all mods!!!

I think I know where I will be going come renewal time :D

I'm going to try to look at sorting the insurance issue and maybe some "freebies" and or discounts for paying up.

Any news on this Ajay?

The power of the board! .......just phoned for a quote, happened to drop in about the forum and the guy said he thought he was going mad cos he'd had loads of calls about 300zx this afternoon.

He was interested in the forum and was asking quite a few questions.

Sounded like someone with their head screwed on right, he's going to email me in a bit. Didn't want maybe a good opportunity to slip by as he was keen to get on board.

Andy Seekings is the guy to talk to..........anyone want to take this up?? --Ajay?

He asked me if "we" (the club) could give a valuation for my car.... I said erm........um........no!

I just asked for an email quote...

I was paying almost that per month last year...

That was the guy I spoke to, sometimes being 26 has its advantages ;)

Just got to find a garage in the next 5 months.

You'd better hurry up and get old..............on second thoughts, don't mate!

My quote was based on me being 31 yrs old, limited mileage, garaged and said I had use of 2nd car.

arse..... they wont insure me cos of all my speeding offences.

Dan

Woohoo - just got a quote;

£500.15

Limited to 5000 miles, 2nd car, garaged, 25 years old, agreed value of £5000.

Considering I'm paying £850 p/a at the moment with 5yrs NCB, that's pretty good!

Means I can get a runaround to use the NCB on now, and keep the Z as a second car..

woohoo - £806.75 agreed value £10,000 limited to 5,000 miles but can be driven in europe stage 3 modifiactions declared for me and my mrs.

p.s. my previous premium was over £2,000 on a manual policy from norwich union - only policy i could find to accept heavily modified cars.

Thank you Norton Insurance

this is brilliant, although I aint got my Z yet, i thought I'd give it a go anyway, so here goes;

Keep all my NCD on my current Escort.

Insure ZX as 1990 Auto for 3000 per year, garaged and agreed value of £5000, fully comp, with £150 excess all for >

that is absolutley amazing:D :D I am gob smacked!!!

Thanks guys for this thread, you've just saved me a staggering £700 per year for the Z and having to find something real cheap to run to work everyday. I can now afford to keep the escort and run the ZX for less than just the ZX alone !!!!;)

Well worth joining the club :D

Dave

  • 5 weeks later...

Just got a quote - £623. That's half of what I paying now!!!!

32 with full NCB, clean license and all mods declared!!!!

Vijay

I called everywhere a couple of months ago and Norton were by far the cheapest at £340.
