Hi All,

As some of you remember earlier in the year at the SXOC Top Speed Challenge, I blew a piston. :(

After some time of waiting for SE to get round to looking at my car, I got pi$$ed off and tried looking elsewhere. Unfortunatly the quotes I was getting back for a re-build were "intergalactic", so although I wanted to go with another company, my dosh situation didn't allow it.

Anhew, (I will get to the point) ;)

Pete (SE) finally got round to looking at my engine, and has agreed to do a rebuild at a substantially discounted rate, this means I have some dosh left over, so along with the re-build I am now going for forged pistons and all the gubbins that go along with it.

With any luck this time my engine might last a bit longer. (Well hopefully long enough for me to save more dosh to spend on my Z).

Timescales would be interesting though, I may be cutting it fine for Billing, so I might be up in my 200SX for that weekend instead of the Z.

Thanks to all who have provided suggestions on other Engine builders. I'll keep them in mind next time.

hi eddie,

do you mind if i ask how much 'intergalactic' was ?

I have limited cash at the moment but i want to save up for an engine re-build for next year. Hopefully put some decent turbos, new pistons, cams etc maybe get it stroked - all depends on the budget

regards,

alex

Nice one;) hope it all goes well Ed.

I was speaking to Peter on thursday, there were calls coming in from all directions they seem real busy:rolleyes:

Yep, last I heard I was number 17 on the engine rebuild list (although I don't need a rebuild, just a heads off jobbie !!!)

Best part of 5 grand, this included engine removal. The quote was more of a ball park figure though and was just for the bottom end. I think the engineer doing the quote was trying to cover for every evetuallity that comes up.

The company I got the approximate quote from was Progress Engineering. They specialise in rover V8's but have done a few zeds (some from very well respected memebers of this board). Here's their number 01622 687070 ask for DAVE. They gurantee their engines for a year and unlimited mileage, sounds good.

Yep, Progress Engineering know theit stuff. Always a few TVRs with lumps out hanging around there. Their Rolling Road is a bit Heath Robinson but they do seem to be an honest engineering garage.

But as Eddie said they are really Buick derived V8 specialists.
