F1 cars generate about 800bhp ? They are not turbocharged and have 3-litre V10 engines. The McClaren F1 has a much bigger engine to ge the power (670BHP). I would have though a smaller turbocharged engine would get more power with less weight and be the ultimate car, but many purists don't like turbos probably because of the power curve being erratic?

It said the top speed of an F1 was 220mph - where did 240 come from ? Remember a 300ZX has done 262 MPH (12 yr unbroken record), showing the potential of these cars (although that was very heavily modified).

F1 cars top speed is 220mph because when you increase top speed you lose acceleration. As we know the gearbox changes from track to track to accomodate that track so the gearbox runs out of speed at the fastest part of the track. Take for example Monaco, the track isnt that fast because its tight and not many straights to the gearbox will be set up for a top speed of 180(ish)MPH. But the German and Italian GP have very long straights and not many tight corners so the gearbox is setup for to reach high speeds for these very long straights.

Take for example WRC cars. 300bhp and their top speed is sometimes only 120mph depending on what rally they are at, because having a box which can go 180mph is a waste. They need acceleration

Also F1 cars are NA because the rules say they have to be. They are very hightly tuned and only last a few races before they are completely replaced. The McLaren engine has to last a lot longer than that so cant be as highly tuned.

Lol so youve seen this video of the f1 car doing 260 on the internet - can you show us please?

Ive seen a video on the internet of a giraffae swallowing a human whole.... :D

How on earth can you compare an F1 engine desinged to do around 300 miles before its stripped and rebuilt to a BMW Production engine thats got to be able to do 100 000 miles + without a rebuild?

You never seen a Bugatti eb110? in just about every car magazine there was? The answer they put it into production, but it was not as fast as the maclaren.

Whats turbocharged?the F1?

Its top speed is 245 mph offically.....not 260 there is a massive difference no?

F1 cars are not restriced in the airbox ect, it is a set of rule they all apply lol, but regarding restricitions? they are the ultimate form of that specific rule? so it all depends on what restrictions you talk about?

An f1 cars top speed is not 220mph its precisly what they wish the speed to be?

you say all of this lmfao and repeate it and yet still argue it all in the same thread.......

Maby its you who should shut the **** up lol.... (thats a joke) just made ****ing funny reading last night.

I think SRRAE was on about the veyron, not the eb110.

AAAAnnnnyways, im off.

No dont waste money on magazines which will be thrown away a few weeks later. Now that I have seen a pic I know the car was a Bugatti just not what its real name was.

Which F1 you talking about? Where not F1 cars turboed from 1981 to 1988? As for the McLaren F1, I thought it was NA then I hear Mika Hakkinen say he can hear the turbos.

Thats what I said they make the box to accomodate the track. No use having a 300mph gear box when you wont reach that speed on the track.
