Black Zed,

You could actually make one, measure length you want, one end is drilled out and threaded with correct ID, other end is threaded with OD you want.

Here is link to shifter extension

You might want to get (2) new bushings while your into changing your shifter (takes wobble out of shifter, esp 3rd gear)

I'm not sure but I know the brass/bronze ones are better than oem plastic ones, they'll never wear out, here is link for nylon ones

These next ones are made from bronze

You might also want a new knob:

Best knob I ever saw was made out of multiple round anodized balls (drilled out, threaded together with a Rod) the balls do not all have to be same size - top one was bigger - to fit the guys hand.

I forgot:

Must have had a "senior moment"

Here is link to get at the shifter bushings from above:

I talked to a Z tuner in North Carolina and he said he could change out bushings from below (car is on a lift), very easy and fast..If anyone interested I can probably find name and phone number..

brad if you had read my last post you could of saved yourself all the hassle of posting, i got a shifter sorted about a month ago now. a shifter extension won't cure the problems caused by a short shifter.

Sorry,

Especially for length of response.

Did not mean to cause trouble, I did see a post from you that said ""sorted"" but I did not know for sure that if it applied to to your post or not.

I am new to this forum and really new to posting and threads. I have read them before and they are a great source of info about Z's for me,

Some of the language used "sorted = fixed, or problem solved is more understandable to me. The Australian Z clubs posts are even harder for me.

So on your shifter thread would I be correct in understanding your original post was about "a short throw shifter kit" and not about the shifter shaft

length? I have seen many recomendations to switch from the oem shifter to the short throw kit and about the bronze / brass bushings that will tighten

the wobble associated (especially 3rd gear) that a short throw shift kit is recomended.

I research things to aid, know and to assist me before I purchase my Z and your thread definitely caught my eye, also from the fact that currently I do not know how to create a new thread, and being new I do not know if I qualify to even start one. I would like to create one in the classified section under "Wanted to buy". We have many guests coming thru the website and perhaps they have one or know someone that wants to sell one. I dunno if it would be allowed for another member to create one for me, I could give specifics for the add and see what happens. I do have trouble sorting the posts and if responders posted and emailed me at same time I might be able to obtain my car sooner, there is a great advantage to the posts insofar as other members could possibly review and add their thoughts to aid me in getting a good one.

I am 65 yrs old and this has been on and is on my "bucket list". This item also includes my son accompanying me (he has arranged time off from work - whenever need be to accomplish this). Once a car is found, I do the following things:

Get more pis' and copy of title (all four sides) to prove title is clear.

Explain to seller that car will be a third party sale

Run CarFax

Do "Pre Purchase Inspections" which I pay for.

---1.) By a certified / qualified / good referenced independent inspector

---2.) By a good Nissan dealer, basic inspection and have them talk to me over the phone if issues are found and need to be explored further and to give cost estimates, labor time involved - etc.

If all is good, agree on purchase price.

Either close in person or have 3rd party close (car transport is arranged). If car is close to me (1 or 2 day travel), Bucket list says me and son will go get car and drive it back, this might be last great adventure between son and me and I want it to have good memories for son, as he will be keeping car afterwards. My son is my "hero", I have best son a man could ask for and I am mighty proud of him!

I currently have (2) cars on list that are in process of going thru it, here are links to each car for your info (ranked in preference):

1.) https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/nissan/300zx/1961990.html[/url] and carfax report attached: https://www.carfax.com/showroom/#/report/JN1RZ24A9LX017213

This cars CarFax report begins at 40,000 miles and that is a bit questionable. However owner assures my me that he has all records since he purchased new, however he is slow on response to my questions and seems in no hurry to cooperate. However he grades high on bucket list - esp location, I can fly there in 2 hours, rent a car and be at his house in a total 5 hours and close deal. Then my son and I can drive back home and fulfill the bucket list and also stop along the way and take in touristy things. Nice leisurely trip. I have seen this type before and it reeks of scam

2.) http://www.redrocknissan.com/vehicle-details/used-1991-nissan-300zx-22-grand-junction-co-id-18522650

Carfax is on vehicle website option

I have asked for addition pic's ( not received yet) esp on damaged area. 2+2 does not bother me. Distance does, and forces me into a true 3rd party deal so bucket list drive back is off the table. Price is nicer and I do like Pearl white ext, would prefer leather and 3 spoke wheel (wheel is gunna change - however airbags might be there. Also asked for explicit list of what does work and pic's of any questionable areas.

Today I will work on my Z search again, am getting ready for procedure with doctors on Tuesday, so son has grounded me until then, sniff.

However everyday I am still here and I am grateful for each and every one I have, every sunrise is special.

I am frustrated in my Z search (I have never seen something I thought would be easy turn so hard to accomplish). I need to do my "bucket list" on this issue ASAP. I would like to conclude / complete it in next (2) months. After that I have (4) operations scheduled and my mortality is questionable on each one and the recovery time for each is as high as 3 months for them, so I am going to be laid up for a quite a while and unable to drive, assuming best case scenario. My son can and will drive me around, but I do not wish to be a burden. Hence I am trying to make it as fun as possible for both of us and to give my son some more memories after I am gone.

I am a proud man and many of my doctors are frustrated with the path I have chosen to take, however all of them have heard my "(quality of life and whose life is it anyway speeches" and while they might not like them, they all understand and will support me in the path I have chosen to walk.
