Depending on my job situation (Possible promotion) i may be getting a company car however if not I want to get rid of the mk4 golf run around and get something a little better if and when i know whats going on.

Thats not bad actually, there starting to look a little dated now, and even though BMW engines are good 151k miles is a little on the high side

Dont get the 525i, get the 530D instead, with Sport trim, although maybe over budget. The sports model and the 3.0D attend to attract a premium now. 528i is a better buy if the 530D is out.

I agree actually, but only added the listing as it was the first one i came across. but you get what i mean, the 5 series is a pretty decent luxury car

As yowser said, although if no 530d available, you should be able to find a reasonable 530i which offer good performance and the same economy as the 520i/525i give or take the odd mpg. Diesels will attract a huge premium, a £2500 530i is going to be in similar condition to a £4500 530d, £2000 is alot of fuel to save!

 

E39's are lovely cars, ive actually got my mums 523i touring outside at the moment, it isnt the one you would buy as this one is a bit of a dog now but its survived the last 8 years of my mother bashing it up and down lanes at warp factor 9 going to the shop and the occasional towing run.
