should i be looking more towards full HD or will HD ready be just as good, i do have a PS3 and will be playing blu-ray's through it, will i nootice a difference between the two??

Most of what you've said is very accurate, except the ommission, that lots of the PS3 games, whilst not using 1080p as you rightly say, do use something above 720p, so buying the 1080p TV is still a better idea.

 

Refresh rate is very much important for gaming as you've also pointed out, as is brand and actual range within the brand. There are some 1080p TVs that Samsung make which are a bit pants, compared to some that are kick ass!

 

Your dead right, apologies i didnt mean you should go for 720. hell no lol. I just meant the way they advertise 1080p is very misleading.... :) :)

 

Yeah for gods sake get something with 1080p, but do bear in mind contributing factors to a good picture as previously mentioned.

got the 1080p samsung, it come's on friday, managed a buy now pay 9 month's later, got a free £90 hdmi cable, 2 pair 3d samsung glasses and 2 bottle's of screen cleaner for £700

 

am happy with that

Without sounding like a bellend can I just say that the £90 hdmi cable is about as much use as tits on fish. a £1.49 cable from amazon will perform the same. Apart from that GREAT choice because I also have a 1080p Samsung although I bought mine about 5 years ago for alot more that you paid eeek

I couldnt disagree more. Have you compared them? There is a distinct difference!

Because of the nature of an HDMI cable he's right, they will all be the same in picture/sound quality, they have to be in order to meet the HDMI standard, because it is so well defined. That said, the cheaper ones are likely made from cheaper materials and may well degrade and break much quicker than the expensive ones if you're the type to move things around often. I know when we moved, all our HDMI cables were ****ed, so had to be replaced, but while the TV stayed in one place, they were all fine and all just as good as each other, some were worth £5 others worth £45.

BTW, it's the same thing with digital camera MP.

 

There is no way that the human eye can tell the difference between 10MP and 24MP, yet the manufacturers keep on increasing the MP count to sell new cameras. I have a 12MP, but to be honest, my old 4MP takes better pictures!

 

The excuse for larger MP is that you can now make even larger high quality enlargements...how many of us want to print A1 sized posters?

quick report for ya daz, tv is amazing, though tit was too big but it isnt, come down this morn and it look's spot on

 

couple of thing's wrong though (not too bad) the screen is very reflective, any dark scenes will reflect like a mirror if you have a light on or the sun is shining through ya window

 

also it's very akward to set up, probably not for you's lot but for someone who took 3 years to rig his ps3 up to wireless it is lol

 

no real biggie's though, overall seem's a great tv

Nice one Al, glad your happy :) I read your other thread aswell and you will see a massive difference in quality when your connected with hdmi cable but you also need the HD channels on sky to see the big difference!!! you will be amazed!! I`ve been with sky for 12 years and just fooked them off last month, they nearly halved my monthly subscription to try and keep me, but I`ve gone elsewhere ;)..... 50" x-factor final and COD for you tonight then?? :D
