Having tried practically everything in the past to give up I always found it way too difficult to get there in the end.

I heard of this alternative from my mates called vaping and I tried it out for myself. I thought i'd give it a go and order what I needed, its not a method of giving up per se - but it cuts out the harmful smoke/tar in cigarettes.

Literally the only thing this gives off is water vapour and since i've been using it I havent even thought about having a fag. It gives the same sensation as smoking and that shot of nicotine into your throat. It's also far far cheaper than fags after the initial outlay.

Not counting my chickens yet, but so far so good I may have found a happy medium :).

My father in law at 71 is just the same Chris, puffed away for England then bang in December it happened, bypass the lot.

Not touched a ciggy since and not tempted even when his wife has one practically in front of him.......so wish she would give up too

I think I wrote about it when you were ill.

Working for a consultant oncologist specialising in lung cancer made me quit in about, ooh 2 weeks of starting my job. We have patients younger than me, who have terminal lung cancer, all due to smoking. And I've lost 2 friends to cancer recently, it makes me want to live longer.

Hope this works for you, fags are the worst addiction. I still crave now sometimes, I just will never ever touch one again

Ive got an electric fag and it was ok for a few days, you still need the will power lol, but ive burnt mine out and need another one. Really good for cutting down and giving up gradually, great in a restaurant or a plane, but i still enjoy a proper ciggy.

I've tried a crappy electric fag before and that was no good, the type that just glows at the end and you don't exhale anything. This is completely different although I'm not sure what type you actually tried

I bet if I gave you 100k you would give up but your health is worth so much more. My mum gave up and so did my dad after which my brother gave up but I could smell it on him couple of weeks later, I told him how dad said he was really proud of him for giving up and he started leaking like a baby, he's been clean ever since. If you really want to give up just have to learn to say NO.

The electric fags are similar to what you describe, you have a nicotine gel pack in the filter part, the white stick of the fag is charged by a usb and houses the evaporator and when you take a drag, you get the hit of the vapor on the back of the throat and you exhale vapor.

I count myself lucky, I'd been smoking since I was 13 (up to aged 29) and got up to over 40 a day at one point. One new years eve I went outside for a last smoke before midnight (house party) and decided smoking was not for me any more - I can honestly say I have not had one since and I'm 35 now.

The craving never goes away (I could still murder a ciggy nowadays) but I believe that if you REALLY want to give up, then you can do it on willpower alone. My belief is that I managed it because I was doing it for myself, and nobody else really cared whether I smoked or not, so if I had a 'crafty fag' then I was only letting myself down.

I know it's harder for some, but it is worth it. I am generally healthy but not especially 'fit' but I went for my first bike ride in years yesterday and did a 20 mile round trip without really struggling (apart from a sore arse - what psycho designs bike saddles!!??!), I could never have done that when I was smoking.

Problem is everybody is different, I find it difficult to say NO to the hoes in Amsterdam and Poland - yet a few of the other guys were not interested. Its not fair to just say you got to learn to say no.

This is working for me at the moment and its a brilliant substitute for the harmful 'analogue' fag.

Try this for quitting

1. When you would normally smoke have an orange/satsuma

2. If you crave real bad then take a slice of lemon and suck it

Very very quickly your brain stops craving and the Lemon completely gets rid of the urge. It quickly associates nicotine and smoking with bitter lemon. You will quit doing this no problem at all... try it.

If you still want a cig for any reason go a quarter lemon, then a quarter lime making sure you suck on them like a cig. Honestly a few days of this and you will be home and dry...

Hope it works for you bud , i smoked for 25 years but packed up about 4 years ago , it,s the best thing i,ve ever done and i,ll never start again that,s for sure , keep at it bud , once you,ve stopped you,ll realise how much better it,ll make you feel .:thumbup::thumbup:
