Anybody got experience of importing from japan to the UK?

 

I was trying to get a quote for the import duty and realised I need to know the insurance cost first before the calculator gives an estimate...anybody know good place to go for insurance, parts would be coming by ocean freight.

Insurance is covered/included by the Courier, as part of the delivery charge.

Any idea how it works when it arrives in UK, land in a depot and pick up/arrange your own courier from there? I'm invetigating a container to be shipped, seller has arranged a price to get it as far as Southampton...I've never imported before, I know I'll have 24% to the total price to pay at somepoint for vat and duty but that's about it!
