shell has offered to volunteer in the hospital to help her get an admin job in there, think she will be doing two days a week and is quite looking forward to it

 

has anyone else done this to help get a job?, does it work or will it work do you think??

I think any voluntary work will look good on CV, and if Shell's looking to get into that sort of work then that will really help. If she can network a bit, make some contacts then she might find out she is top of the shortlist if she applies for jobs in the hospital - always good if you're already on the inside!

Also she'll probably have access to the intranet there where the jobs are first advertised.....

If she's got any queries tell her to get in touch with me if she wants - I'm a medical secretary but was a waiting list manager in the NHS a few yrs ago too, so lots of experience

thanks for the advice, although its top seceret on facey (doesnt want her current work to find out) but shell did her first volunteer job on friday and loved it, they also liked her

 

she is working in the endoscopy unit and will be on the reception next friday

if you do 24 hours of Voluntary work a week you can claim for council tax relief. Thats standard, but the 'depending factors' determine how much you can claim.

It can go as far as 100% relief (so you dont pay a penny all year) cos my local council gives that. good luck.
