just been for a nice long walk in the countryside with riddick, right along the old train lines, this weather is great for a walking a dog for a few reasons, its cool for the dog so you can go further, its cool for me so i dont sweat lol and best of all-the part time dog walkers aint about, because its not red hot you aint got the idiots walking about with vests on or tops off and in shorts walking dogs with full coats miles and miles in redhot sunny weather, they aint got dogs off leads running about and running up to riddick annoying both me and the dog, its nce and peacefull and its the best time of year for walking the dog

just thought i would share that as i feel all healthy and happy after my long walk

I know what ya mean Al, i choose to walk the dog at set times usually to avoid the school run, or times where i think more people will be out

plus as Megan my Alsatian is not the best with other dogs, it does annoy me though when owners have no control over there dogs or just let them run up to another unattended

Chris

Bloody freezing down here walking the dog in the evenings, i always tend to go out a bit later aswell to avoid the random people and kids hanging out on the streets.

there is nowt worse than out of controll dogs, it annoys me when they have yappy little things running around off the leads and the owners shout "its ok, it only wants to play", so does riddick but at around 9 stone his play is a lot rougher lol

 Amen to that, i have the same issue

love weather for walking dogs poxy for feeding horses, just got back from the field and i am smothered in mud, feeding time is mayhem and they're all chasing each other and not caring that im in the middle, so got mud flicked at me and charged past which knocked me flying.

so now i look like a mud monster lol glad you enjoyed ya walk stells :)

Might be cooler, but walking further is no good to a semi large dogs joints:nono: 10-15 minutes is best:rolleyes:

a nice long slow walk is good for them, riddick is a very athletic dog, he is built more like a large boxer than a mastiff

was out for about half hour

still waiting for the last jab for mine, should get it tomoz i think will have to check on that, i do take him out thou 3x as he has had one, but i keep him away from other dogs crap

yeah, be carefull if he aint had his jabs, my friends dog caught pavo because he wouldnt wait till it had his jabs, it died 3 weeks later

they say dont mix him with any other dogs or sumthing like that , but we dont have any round were iam as we not allowed them but me being me said sod it they havnt said anything but then again he is a sauasgue dog or a mini rat :).

The vet said its very played out that any harm will come but the jabs are just to be safe. he said many people dont even bother with the jabs at all and that why there is problems etc. apperantly it you could stand on it and take it home with you (parvo that is) so despite doing all the right things they could still get it . Also the biggest carrier for it are flies of all things , one of them land on your dogs bowl and your had it. Clothes skin the lot , once you have it in your home you have to bleach everything, its can also live in ground for anytime upto a year

Catch 22 Me Say - You risk you dog getting it everytime you go out and come home.

your shoping in tescos and your sleve touches another person just briskly and now you have it, you take it home and you take you jacket or item of , its then on ya hands, then you touch you dog , or the tap and now your infected the tap/dog. you wash your hands and turn the tap off, your just touch that tap again which means your re infected your self, you dry your hand on a towel which then infect that and so on , bit dramitic but you cant help it. if the dogs gonna get it , it will the only thing you can do is limit what you do ie , let him out in the back garden and hope a cat hasnt shat in it. :)

I take Taz out twice a day every day for about an hour each time whatever the weather, its good exercise for the owner as well !! if its hot we go near a river or the beach as he loves to swim and keeps him cool. I understand what your saying about other dogs but usually they are sociable creatures and love to play, I keep him away if the other dog is on a lead and would hope all dog owners are resposible in keeping them up to date with vaccinations.

i take his dish and a bottle of water if its hot, it is great excercise, i love walking

I would never take the risk not jabing them for the sake of £50 id rather not risk a 600 dog. cant wait to take him out properly and not just plod around the back garden or at the front of my estate area thing what ever you want to call it ,

My dog has his own Addidas squirty water bottle, even he is getting designer trendy.

Oh and a flashing LED collar for when its dark, I would not see him without it !!

I put Taz in the car and have taken him all over the place, countryside walks are his favourite, if you can find the right place a summers evening walking the dog is very relaxing.

Any pictures of the dog yet?

Milo the little puppy we got is out and about now after having his first walk yesterday :)
