Well it's happened, Button has signed with McLaren, making McLaren a British team with British Drivers, And of course they are BOTH World Champions. :). roll on 2010 season.

I think this will give Lewis a kick up the jacksy, as he will be going ALL out so that Button wont steal his thunder.

Mercedes released him and told him to look for employment elsewhere....just a shame we had to end up with him..

Dont agree with you at all Dave, Its not a shame for any team to end up with a British world champion imo.

Fair enough Gary... just my personal feelings as a Mclaren fan (I am passionately British trough & through) coming through- don't like the bloke and don't particularly rate him. Lucky- yes...when he cocks up qualifying he does seem to be lucky in the race as others crash, or retire...and thats important.

If he has a car that has something no one else has at the beginning of the season quite rightly he leads...different story when the playing field levels!

He needs a car that is clearly superior to everything else, and is not good at getting the best out of anything else as we have seen for 10 years- blames everything and everybody else for a poor performance.

Good move for him as the Mclaren car is reckoned to rate next year so again he'll have a chance- mind you Fisi (good driver) couldn't get the same results as Kimi so won't be a walk in the park.

I would have preferred a young hungry talented driver like Rosberg, and my feelings were obviously shared by Mercedes.

If Kimi hadn't earnt more by staying out of F1 for 2010, we could have seen Button with no where to go...if its so well deserved why was no one keen?

Maybe Macca settled for someone to get the car home and just earn points toward a constructors cup which Kovalinan failed to do.

Kamui Kobayashi for third driver at least- a proper racer with loads of talent- one to watch!

:D

Everyone has there own opinion and I respect yours Dave mine is that it takes more than luck to be a world champion no matter how good your car is and with Lewis and Jenson in the same team and both at the top of there game it will be great veiwing to see who comes out on top. I also think that Lewis will be world champion next season and Jenson second but time will tell.

ps. any picks on your zed Dave it looks great.
