They're not made specifically for the 300zx and will not be a snug fit, therefore high chance of wind getting under causing the inner to rub on the paintwork and scuff it. I made that mistake before last winter; this winter I will just wash it weekly and try not to drive it much.

Coverzone stormforce is probably the one to get, I have these on all the cars except the Z32 which had a Monsoon which has just disintegrated after 22months and has just today been replaced under warranty with a Stormforce afetr I paid the upgrade cost.

The Stormforce covers have all held up quite well with no rips or tears and have straps that secure them under the car, I can usually get quite a good deal on them as I have bought so many.

Thats what I was worried about ,if they scuffed the paint as I had other covers in the past on motorbikes which were naff and dulled the paint.

Whats the price of the coverzone covers as they dont state it on there website and dont want junk mail by filling in my details just for a price .

Circa £100 + postage

I got one from Halfords, fits ok and has straps running under it and is a good cover cost £60

I'd avoid car covers if you can, mate! The garage I recently had my car resprayed at told me that a customer of theirs had gone as far as spending £1200 on an all-singing-all-dancing cover for his Mercedes and it still damaged the paintwork! The fact is materials in the cover harden over time/get damaged/worn away, and dirt and grit etc. are either on the car when it's covered, or get under the cover when it's blown around and all this means abrasion to your paintwork.

Simple fact ! a car cover is better than no cover at all, as long as you ensure that there is no dirt on the car before it is covered.

I have a number of cars that have been covered and there has been no damage whatsoever to them. the ones that are not covered though are a different story...........

780z I disagree. If you wash your car weekly, there will be no damage to the paintwork whatsoever whereas with a cover, there is a chance of abrasion.

That all depends on where you live there are lots of trees around mine and one day of birdshit will soon get you running for a cover. If I only washed the cars once a week without using a car cover my paintwork would be seriously damaged.

Besides a good car cover also protects against UV damage dashboard cracking and seat fade being a couple of the issues here.

I left my daily driver for two weeks whilst I went on holiday and got back to find a big patch of laquer peeling under the bird shit, a car cover would have prevented this.

As I said earlier I have had no abrasion whatsoever on any of my cars that have been covered for a few years now and I have quite a few cars. The cars that have not been covered have suffered untold damage.

I agree with you both...... for the sun factor yes, UV has a very damaging effect on interiors of a car, cracking/fading etc. On the other hand, inner materials used can cause an abrasive effect, like a bad fitting cover that does not enclose the car completely, with strong winds blowing the cover. I would only go for a cover made for a 300zx, not a universal cover. Only my opinion people, and i am still looking for a good cover after 2 years!!!
