Hi Guys,

Finally got some spare cash and need to get a pc together. Been advised to go for an Intel based machine with a dual core processor. Can anyone recomemend an ATX board that has on board VGA to go for? I've been told Gigabyte boards are good but they only have MATX with on baord VGA which isn't a major problem as I don't really use any PCI boards.

Cheers

Vijay

Morning,

ANy comments on this spec?

Case - Coolmaster Elite 333 with 460watt PSU - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/161317 - £59.98

Mainboard - Gigabyte GA 73PVM S2H - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139780/show_product_specifications?spectype=extended - £48.89

Processor - Intel Core Duo E7400 2.8GHZ 1066MHZ - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152177 £91.91

Memory - OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) - http://ebuyer.com/product/146049/ £34.99

And will be looking at a Western Digital STAT drive

All is ok, I would still go for my mobo, Comes with overclocking software form manufacturer 3 second boot dual vga, It virtually same board a ggabyte, But with extras...and you dont have to use th instant boot if you dont want,,,,

Proccessor is ok...

Case and powersupply is ok, but if you are going to be over clocking or hard gaming etc i would recmmend a decent 500w psu +.

Memory is ok if you are using 64 bit OS, If using 4gb with 32bit Os it will only see about 3.2gb of it....

All depends what you want to use it for? I bought mine because I needed at least 2 PCIe x1 slots.

Q6600 are recomended as they're easy to overclock as long as they're cooled properly plus they have 4 processor cores instead of measly 2 like the duo. :p

Also as said 3 gig memory is max for 32 bit windows but also consider that many programs are fussy with 64 bit.

But isn't that 3 second boot just sleep mode???

Won't be gaming, just normal internet, word/excel, msuic and videos.

I'll be loading XP, not even sure whether I want to go to Vista ;)

Vijay

Dont know what you mean by 3 sec boot...sleep...

Your XP is either 32bit or 64bit but more than likely 32.

If you're going to be using it just for the internet etc. then duo is more than enough.

My bad, missed snoopys post.

for what you have said you want the pc for thats ok but XP 32bit will only use 3gb of you ram you need 64bit OS to use more but alot of programmes dont work with it, if you do go into gaming you PSU will be the first thing to upgrade

try here for parts too

I doubt very much I 'll do any gaming, don't have the patience for them!! lol I had a Nintendo Wii and got fed up with it after a couple of weeks.

Looked at the prices on Aria and it's roughly the same as Ebuyer ;)
