SAAB service interval

Hi All,

I have just bought a 56 plate 9-3 2.8 turbo aero and it has 16000 on the milometer. It was serviced in Sep on a time based service at 14000. I have checked the service indicator and it says over 500 days to next service. I have rang the dealer and he says this is correct and that there are 18000 miles between services. This is a high performance car and I like fresh oil in my engines. Would you recommend an interim oil change or just stick to the service schedule?.

I've tried the saab forum but they are keen to look but no comments. I know you good folks on here are far more interactive!.

Cheers.

Steve.

Modern cars are very good at separating combustion gasses from contaminating oil, and oil technology has progressed further that lifespan is extended. Modern cars also tend to recommend the use of Long-life oils and other fluids.

However, they are also increasingly stating longer and longer service intervals as part of there low cost ownership advertisements and personally I would do intermediate oil changes every 8-10k mile
