So when you rolling road a manual you bung it in 5th and bury your foot right?

Well how do you go about it with an auto? I know its a dumb question but there you go.

right so it depends on the model of car what gear you do it in? When they did my 200sx the guy got it into 5th under 30mph and then floored it, i thought it would be the same for all manuals.

And you use the hold button on the auto to keep it in the gear you want it?? I never use the button on mine ever, might as well not be there.

It depends on the gearbox. Most cars will have varying ratios.

Basically you want to select the ratio closest to 1:1 to minimise transmission losses and innacuracy when calculating flywheel HP. On a manual Z32 4th is exactly 1:1 (as said by Dave, above).

A supra TT manual and a skyline GTR will use 5th gear for 1:1

Your 200sx (assuming S14) should have been done in 4th.

right im with yer dunk thanks. I had a s13 model, well about 90% of one as the rest had rusted off!

LOL @ rusted off :D I had one too, back in the day, but it was before everything started rusting ;) It was a 1990 manual and I got it in 1998.

I got to say, I really miss the full pillarless doors. The Z's doors are OK but not quite perfect :(

S13 Manual 4th=1:1 _____________ S13 Auto 3rd=1:1
