Guys,

Is it my imagination or is Firefox a quicker application than Internet Explorer? I had been having problems with explorer, where pages sometimes would stop responding, so I started using Firefox today and I am well impressed so far. Appears to be quicker.

Thanks for the confirmation mrbusy. It wasn't my imagination so. It appears so much faster! Its the one I'll be using from now on then. IE was recking my head.

FIREFOX is da bomb :D

I used IE for years and thought it was OK, then tried Firefox - WOW  What a difference!

Cheers Kim. I have been using IE since I started using the web nearly 10 years ago. Just goes to show that change can be a good thing.

I had heard before that Safari was for the Mac? Is that correct or is it an Apple programmed application?

That WOW is exactly what I experienced this evening :hyper:

yes it is, but there is now a version for Windows.

http://www.apple.com/safari/download/

if you think firefox is fast, try google chrome thats even quicker! uses the same engine as Safari but doesn't d!ck with the page like safari does! but yes firefox is much better and quicker than IE plus there are addins to do almost everything .

I've had issues with FireFox on my laptop in the past so I no longer use it. I'm currently using Safari and am finding it quite good so far, although there are some issues with it as well... ie; I can't copy & paste within the same window, and it wont continue to certain log-in windows.

I installed firefox and my google searches are now CRAP ????

They come up with virus checkers, and generally nothing to do with what i searched for ????

Firefox has always been better than the rest (despite my brother raving about Opera) but recently i've found there's been a lot of problem with the mac version. They seem to have sorted it out now but i was getting worried it was getting as buggy as explorer.

IE8 which is now out is a truly awful application, it preloads with windows to give you a quick load time the same as IE7 which sucks up memory.

As a web developer the last version was the bain of my life, things that worked in every browser wouldn't work in IE7, things defaulted to centre aligned rather than left aligned, flash didn't work without a hack script and css was a pain the arse to get working 100% and still make the page validate.

IE8 has taken that pain in the arse incompatibility and turned up the volume making it 100% locked to the W3C standards and means that 90% of all sites will have problems with it.

A truly awful browser in every sense of the word IMHO

I always used to use IE.

Now I use Firefox and IE.

Firefox is quicker and you can get some great plugins but it can't do everything IE does.

My work webmail is shite on Firefox so I have to use IE for that.

Sometimes Ebay pages don't work on FF too.

Recently tried Safari. Pretty good but looks crap.

That's AVG/your antivirus mate not firefox

No the results say what i typed in so say i typed in 300zx to my google, the results would say '300zx' but if i look at the address the link is refering to it is a 'free virus checker' or a comparison website, or another search engine. It drives me nuts as IE doesn't work on my laptop anymore

Opera for me,would be lost without it,wicked browser and widgets.

crotchrocket... that sound to me like you've got a bit of malware or adware. it's a common problem that redirects you to a different website even though the google results will display what you searched for. id run a spyware checker like spybot etc just to see if you've got any infections.

superantispyware is free & very good ...doesnt slow your pc either...& after reading about firefox3 i have now downloaded it & must say it its very fast....

I have to use internet explorer for checking my hotmail etc as no other browser works correctly on it! But i use Google Chrome on everything else
