Morning,

The lock on my back door is playing up, the spring in the handle has gone. Not sure what the type of lock is but it's in a UPVC door, takes a euro cylinder and the mechanism runs completely up the edge of the door. It jas 4 hooks that come out when the handle is raised as well as a straight bar in the middle which shoots out (as well as the latch).

My question is can I just change the actual lock part or do I need to get the whole mechanism from the top to the bottom of the door?

Cheers

Vijay

If it's just a case of the spring in the handle, then a new pair of handles

will do the job. Does the lock work ok apart from the handle?

Some handles have a plastic spring clip inside the handle, could try

turning this round.

Got any pics ?

No the handle doesn't have any springs, they just turn 360. Pretty certain the spring part is in the lock itself :(

Ah, i see.

A good locksmith may be able to strip the lock and replace the part.

Failing that, then yeah you're gonna need a complete lock, it's called

an 'espagnolette' locking system, a specialist job i'm afraid, not the

type of lock you can get in B&Q.
