for my sins I am an avid viewer of this programme! (seems like stellaz is too, judging from a previous thread. Originally there were 5 eggheads, then Barry Simmons? was added and 5 out of the 6 'played' on a sort of a rota. Now he appears to have left coz we're back to the original 5; have looked on a couple of 'egghead' sites but no mention of this. does anyone here know the score?

Anyone heard about this? Any ideas how it's going to work? The govt are going to give 2k to anyone who scraps an older car and buys a new or up to 1 year old car. Now this may not immediately appeal to the Z owner BUT it got me thinking. Now is the time to buy an old banger off ebay for about 200 quid taxed and tested for 6 months. Then, scrap it and get the money to help buy a small, cheap, nearly new runaround to save the Z from town runs, shopping trips and the like...

Went out for something to eat in Milton Keynes the other night. On the way home, I passed a load of cars and police in a car park - turns out there was some sort of cruise on. I decided to have a quick look, but it was a bit on the chavvy side so after a quick circuit round the car park I left. However, to make sure that I wasn't going to run over any blingy white trainers, I had switched my front fogs on. So, I pull out of the carpark, turn right at the lights a hundred yards away, down to the roundabout 200 yards away, realise that I've still got them on and turn them off. A hundred yards later, I get pulled over. 'Evening officer, everything OK?' (Just expect…

A Bit of help for my boss's PA. She had a problem with her steering and was told to top up the fluid. When she went to her garage the bloke there said he didn't have any but Auto Transmission oil was the same. She has now put that into the power steering system. If it is relevant she has a BMW convertible. Is this OK? I don't know enough about the fluids to answer her but thought there were plenty of people here who would know. Its my annual appraisal time so if I can help my boss's PA I will get a few brownie points

Had new bumpers painted, smoothed etc, looking good and waiting to re-fit the spats (mud flaps) on the rear. Problem - the worlds strongest most stubborn double sisded tape stuck all over the rubber spats. Tried:- 1. Petrol - no. 2. Thinners - no. 3. Evo Stick adhesive remover - no. 4. heat gun and scraper - no. 5. Stanley knife blade and 3 fingers - don't ask! 6. really angry stare - no. then I went to my local paint factor with tales of woe - Ding! he showed me this wheel that smells like fudge toffee (tastes a bit like it too - don't ask!) Got it back - sort of held the rubber spats in place and went to town with…

Once upon a time a man appeared in a village and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each. The villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them. The man bought thousands at $10 and, as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He next announced that he would now buy monkeys at $20 each. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again. Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer increased to $25 each and the supply of monkeys became so scarce it was an effort to ev…

I've borrowed a mates plasma cutter which is brand new so never been installed. I assumed it would be a simple 13 amp plug on the end and away we go but it needs a 21 amp supply. The feed into my garage from my main fuseboard has a 32 amp MCB which goes into another fuseboard in my garage which splits into the lights and the plugs via 6 and 20 amp trip switches. My question is is there any way of wiring this so it can be connected and disconnected easily? I called Clarke (the manufacturer) who said to use the round 3 prong transformer type connectors but quickly looking at a Screwfix catalogue, it says they're rated at 16 amps. Any ideas? Thanks Vijay

BEST LAWYER STORY OF THE YEAR, DECADE AND PROBABLY THE CENTURY! Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. A lawyer purchased a box of very rare and expensive cigars, then insured them against, among other things, fire. Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of these great cigars and without yet having made even his first premium payment on the policy, the lawyer filed a claim against the insurance company. In his claim, the lawyer stated the 24 cigars were lost "in a series of small fires." The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason, that the man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion. The lawyer sued.. and WON! …

I'm afraid they're at it again, only worse this time. This unbelievable Government is throwing yet another huge blanket at a problem that is caused by a tiny percent of bad drivers. I refer of course to the National Speed Limit being reduced from 60mph, to 50mph. What will this achieve? Well, it is bound to increase RTA's. Most accidents are caused by poor, aggressive or inattentive drivers. They are not caused by speeding drivers per se. Not even this ludicrous Government and it's pitiful array of Transport Ministers will argue that point. (see my Articles and News page) As an Ex Traffic Cop and Road Safety Officer and Traffic Management Consultant, I can safel…
