valve timing

How does the valve timing solanoid system work? does it give more power or is it for emissions or sumthing else??

Is time for me to learn some more on the workings of the engine. So if anybody can help explain to me then i would appreiciate it.

The TT VVT inlet camshafts are hollow. When the ECU assess all the parameters and decides to fire the VVT soleniod, oil will flow through the centre of the camshaft towards the front of the engine. The large pullies have a helix type mechanism in them. When pressurised this will turn the inlet cams 'X' degrees on the sprockets.


It is for giving nice torque low down and mid range, and also for boosting top end power.


Best of both worlds then really :)
