paulbrem Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Had lots of fun getting car going - http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=80737 A few Niggles - 1. Hicas Light On - Fluid OK? 2. Clutch Pedal Travel - I have fitted a 2nd Hand OS Giken Twin Plate and I have not adjusted the pedal (testing stage). The pedal seems to run free about 1-2" at the top when depressing. Is this normal? Or does it require bleeding yet again? 3. Cooland Temp Gauge isnt working. I also have an aftermarket gauge and that won't read temperature either which is read from a different sensor. I though stuck thermostat but when I filled with car running steam was coming from the rad bleed hole? So Im puzzled with this as well? Some more things to sort 4. My brakes need bleeding again, feels spongy. 5. My headlight still dont work properally. 6. Squeals for new aux belts. Any help Guys? no.3 is doin my head in. cheers Quote

Air lock in the system, turn the heating on, and remove the bleed plug, start her up and keep filling till water comes out the bleed hole. Quote
paulbrem Posted September 24, 2006 Author Posted September 24, 2006 3. Air lock in the system, turn the heating on, and remove the bleed plug, start her up and keep filling till water comes out the bleed hole. Tried this not thoroughly though as it was pi55ing it down, but I did see water coming out of the bleed hole screw. Quote
paulbrem Posted September 24, 2006 Author Posted September 24, 2006 Anybody give us a hint :p The power steering fluid (hicas) is about 1 1/2 inches from the top is that enough? Its touching the big cotton bud. shall I buy some fluid in morning? Quote
The Dark Warrior Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 I would try to do bleed the ad again mate in the dry and leave it overnight. How long did you have it running. It took me 3 days to bleed mine up properly. Hicas light on. Hmm fluid is ok you say? Are all the connectors to the cactuator secure at the front. The fluid dipstick should have a mark on it. Is it up to there? Ivan Quote

paulbrem Posted September 26, 2006 Author Posted September 26, 2006 Do you have a 1 person bleeding kit? No, the methood I have been doing is........ open nipple, press pedal, close nipple, depress pedal........ I saw a self bleeding gadget the other day when buying some dextron III, had a quick look at the back of the packet is said 'no need for somebody to fully press the pedal while you bleed....' So shall I try keeping the pedal pressed down with nipple open for a while? which do you recon is best? Quote
SRRAE Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Have you got some one helping you? Thought you where doing it on your own. Quote
AndyP Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 4. Did you bleed the ABS unit too ? How do you manage to bleed anything unless you have two people or a one person bleeding kit (or those cunning one person bleed nipples) ? Quote

paulbrem Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 Just been trying to get rid of an airlock for over half an hour, water roasting but still both temp gauges don't budge, the aftermarket one is fitted in an adaptor and the brass sensor is poking out the top where the feed wire connects to, its hot to touch, although the gauge only starts at 40 degrees I would have thought it would register?? Quote
paulbrem Posted October 1, 2006 Author Posted October 1, 2006 I used my datascan cabel yesterday to look at these probs, code 55 (no problems?) so I take it all sensors are working fine, I was concerned about the speed sensor for hicas, but no sensor faults and hicas light still on? The water temp registered on the datascan but not on either of my gauges, is it safe to say the gauges are at fault? Quote
Graham S Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Probably yes as the Ecu uses it's own temp sensor. Quote
