Lexx Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Did your car have any for of keyless entry previously? Quote Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now) Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)
Lexx Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?171779-How-To-Install-Keyless-Entry This is if you don't have an actuator already in your drivers door. If you don't have one there already, you don't need to know what colour the wire is, as you just install a powered actuator straight from the kit. Quote Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. davezx Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Did your car have any for of keyless entry previously? never had remote entry on it, only central locking. Quote
Lexx Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 In which case, follow my guide. - - - Updated - - - Oh.....and central locking. It DOES NOT mean you have an actuator in the drivers door! Only in the passenger one. Quote Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now) Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)
Lexx Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 If you lock the passenger door only (using a key or just using the lock on the inside) does that also lock the drivers door? Quote Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now) Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)
davezx Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 so i will need a actuator too now for drivers side. Quote
Lexx Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Do the test I posted a moment ago. If nothing happens to the drivers door lock when operating the passenger lock you will need an actuator in the drivers door. Quote Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. Yowser Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 You need a universal 2-wire Door actuator. Quote
Lexx Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Drop me a PM at any time if my guide isn't overly clear and I will help where I can. the 2 wire actuators are cheap as chips off ebay. You will need the actuator bar with it too (the brass coloured one in my guide) if one isn't in your kit already. What kit did you buy? Does it have everything you are gonna need? (once you buy an actuator) Quote Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now) Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)
davezx Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 What kit did you buy? Does it have everything you are gonna need? (once you buy an actuator) its just a cheap ebay jobby one. its got everything else required in the box(hopefully). Quote
Lexx Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Aye, that's basically the same one I have just in a diff box. Quote Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now) Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)
